I'd love Cullen, a conflicted mentally-scarred Templar which has doubts on both sides of the conflict and doesn't know where to place his loyalties?

Yes please.

I don't think I want Morrigan as a companion, I want her involved in the game, but not as a companion.

She is The Wardens companion and not interchangeable. What would she bring to the party personally? We found most of what we need to know about her personally in DA:O (especially if she is your LI). Obviously we need to now more bout her plans, but we can find that out with her involved but not a companion.

For returning characters there are some much better candidates. Leliana, Shale, Zevran, Nate Howe, Ariane, Finn, Varric, Sebastian, Tallis, Charade Amell. These are better returning companions. Then there is Justice to consider depending on how what you do with Anders.

My Top returning characters would be Nate, Ariane, Tallis and Charade. I wouldn't mind Varric and Shale either.

I would also want Leliana heavily involved, maybe not as a companion as i consider her and Morrigan as my cannon LI's to my Mae Cousland Warden Origin. So it would be odd to have Leliana back as a companion unless finding the Warden are her motivations or he returns and is involved in the story.

Lets see a mix of new and returning characters for companions. Some of the novel companions too. I want both Rhys and Evangeline as companions in a relationship that the PC can influence through the story.

and also make him a lyrium addict!

He should already be lyrium addicted at this point, he's served the Templar Order as a fully initiated Templar for years.

Would be interesting to see, if Cullen was a companion, how they would play out his addiction.

I wouldn't mind seeing Shale as a female dwarf warrior. Though, I wouldn't mind seeing her back as a golem either. I just want to see her.

Definitely. Set it up so that he has to quaff a lyrium potion every once in a while or his stats drop to 5. Or something like that.

Any templar companion (and probably templar protagonists, too) really should have some kind of mechanic in place to account for their addiction.

Then again, it might be fun to encounter him at the tail end of his withdrawl. I have faith. They're putting a lot of thought into it this time. They'll get it right.

Maybe, for DA3, a side-quest could be to acompany Alistair to the Deep Roads for his final battle? I'd really like that. In my mind it would be epic and dramatic. Since he is a Grey Warden he has an best-before date, right?

Imagine it, Alistair, aged and a little haggard perhaps, meeting wave after wave of darkspawn. And then a huge shadow falls over him. The camera pans out as he looks up and it's an ogre. Sword raised above his head he attacks it but he is wounded and tired and the Ogre kills him....*sniffles*

And with Alistair laying dead, his blood pooling around his crushed body the scene fades to black. Perhaps there could be a scene were we see Duncan greeting him on "the other side"?

Ah...for companions I would really like to see Riordan again together with Varric, Anders and Fenris. And Cullen would make for an awsome companion :) Especially for a flirty mage.lol

Isn't it a bit hard for Riordan to show up? ;)

I'm just going by certain epilogue slides and info from external sources. Not that they've found a method but are rather investigating to see if it's possible. It's a pretty inconclusive area but I guess we'll see if it is possible in future games.

True I guess...... Though he did survive my gameplay. At least I think he did.... he would have expired by the time DA3 takes place.... unless they are planning a prequel? Maybe....Maybe he could show up as the Spirit of Valor or Honour??

And having just realised that I didn't put down any female companions in my previous post I would like to ad Wynne to my list, and Sigurd. I just finished DA Awakening, still have Witch Hunt and Angmarrak to play :)

Cassandra for sure. Maraas and Cullen Possibly. Everyone else will be new characters. Morrigan no chance, probably won't even be in the game.

Okay so I think that if in DA:III the companions were brought back from DA:O there would be a major mess up with the time frame but they should still bring back morrigan and the warden to sort of resolve their ending because it was a mystery also i think theyre gonna bring in flemeth at some point because after the champions confrontation on sundermount she wasnt seen again but it is a must to bring back the champion and his/her LI if she/he had one also I that they have to bring back Fenris :-) and make it possible to have LIs that arent companions js

I reckon Flemeth will definitely make an appearance in DA3, she seems to have her fingers in all the pies.

We have to assume Bodahn and Sandal will be back. I doubt Sandal would be a companion, but that would be interesting if he was, say a mage or a new class specialized for him, like Shale or Dog? My bet is Flemeth will return, along with Morrigan being mentioned at the very least. Keep in mind, there are some rumors that this installment will include not only Hawke, but the Warden, or at least mentioned. Thus, Morrigan can be brought back from where ever she came (with the Warden baby if that was chosen). Also, DA2 happened for about 10 years, and Alistair had been king for some time (let's say he's about 36 by the time he appears in DA2) and Leliana has joined the Chantry as a Seeker.

That being said, we have to believe there will be at least two or three new companions (completely new), at least two returning characters (Cullen or Sandal for example or Isabela a la DAO) and at least one returning party member.

WARRIOR:
Oghren
Fenris (not my favorite)
Aveline (most likely I assume she stays in Kirkwall)
Cullen
Cassandra

ROGUE:
Isabela
Varric
Leliana
Sebastian

MAGE:
Morrigan (maybe not a full member, but helps in a quest or is met up with, same as Leliana or Ogrhen or the others)
Anders (if chosen to live, etc)
The Girl from Witch Hunt (name escapes me)

Another idea is what if you are able to have a new character, but also control Hawke or the Warden at different times, and they have specific party companions. Or the choices made in previous games affect the possible companions. So there could be some that could never be opened to use. That could create interesting story points. Personally, my first Warden destroyed the Circle Tower while my first Hawke was a champion of the Mages. Two or three character working towards the same or idfferent goals would most certainly affect gameplay, especially depending on quests and companions.

Alistair is around 20 in DA:O and DA2 ends around 9/10 years after Origins, so by the time of DA3 Alistair would be no where near his calling, unkess DA3 is set 30 years after Origins.

Besides will Alistair even need to go on his callinig like other Wardens? Lets not forget Fiona is the first Warden ever not to go/ does not need to go on a calling so it might be in the blood.......

If, indeed, Fiona is really his mother. Which she clearly is. But it seems like the DA team don't want to elaborate any further on that point so I don't know that Alistair would be exempt from the Calling, if indeed that trait is even hereditary. It's only speculation from the expanded lore that could be construed as hinting at that, and there's surely nothing in the games as presented to set that up.
