Fiona is currently highest power in the circle so her being a companion is unlikely.
Many wish for cullen and he has been in two games so why not he could have a great sense of humor for all I know.
I want female companion as I like Sigrun allot.

Sigrun is so perky <3

I take her everywhere to balance the moodiness of Justice, Nathaniel and Verdana

Correct me if I'm wrong, but, due to the leak (I know some are debating it...) don't we know who the companions are now? As such, isn't this thread a bit superfluous?

Hated Cullen in the first game, and hated that he was the 'voice of reason' in the templars in the 2nd game even more. He is a bigot, and I never wanted anything to do with him. Still annoyed I have, as of yet, not had the option to kill him. ...though that IS a reason to have him in the the party, if killing off companions will be an option this time, and I hope it is.

As for the topic at hand, My vote would have been Charade. One of the more interesting (to me) characters in that game. Also, this would make it so an Armel is in all 3 games.
Though I would love to see Isabella return too, but isn't exactly likely, nor is Segrun, as much as I loved her (last play through with a Duster, gave her the wedding clothes, and engagement ring, love the hero worship thing with her in that intro). Varric and Bethany were fun too (didn't care for Carver myself).
A female Kossith would be a lot of fun, as a companion, LI (options are good) and/or PC.

Feynriel and Conner are fun ideas, but down side is they could, either one, be dead or tranquil. Might be nice to have if the import didn't kill them off. I would like some of the imports to be able to eliminate some companions, or other issues like that, even Origins if they are an option. But there are a lot of minor characters that could make this list. If you were a Dwarf, your son or nephew could be an option, following in his father/uncle's footsteps.

Finn is a really good option really, his knowledge could be critical to the plot...
Nesiara from the City Elf Origin could make for an interesting companion, and a way to tie up one loose thread... It would be nice to see her become an independent woman after her loss, or maybe inspired by he who was almost her husband.

The PC had better not be a set character, like Cassandra, that would be the worst possible option, as if the rumor about being stuck as an inquisitor isn't bad enough (hope that is just one possible Origin, at most). Now mind you, an option to pick someone like that as a 'preset' character with the option to make your own too, would not be sooo bad. It would give the lazy people who dont want to make their own toon an easy voiced option, while leaving the rest of us to make what we want too... But that was the problem with Hawke, as much as we could customize them, they were still Hawke, and the name and voice go a long way on that. I didn't care for ME so I don't want DA to go in that direction too.

If Cassandra were the player character of DA3, it would no longer be possible to have dirty gay man sex and then how would Bioware ****** off Fox News? Not acceptable.

/roflmao, Right on!
But seriously, if Cassandra is anything other than an 'optional' companion, then I won't be buying this game either (like so many others not worth playing to me these days). I started to like her a little bit by the end of the game, but after watching that movie, I can't stand her again. Way too much bigotous tsuntsun and not enough deredere. Unless maybe I have the option to turn her into a broodmother or something else equally horrible... Sell her to the Tevinter slavers...

3 swords? It must be Zorro, Pirate/Pirate Hunter!

Sebastian ? Had enough of his preachy ways already!

But why not ? As long as I get to have Anders, my own favorite who is also hated by 50% of the fan base, sure you can have Choir Boy. Just give me my Magey :wub::wub:

Agreed!

Ya, I meant Carver.

And I'm not so sure people would refuse to work with Anders. He is hardly the first murderer among the companions! Leliana worked with Sten who had murdered an entire family, including children and never denied it. Alistair worked withe Zevran and even bedded Morrigan. Nathaniel, Justice and Anders worked with Verdana who had spent months tearing humans limb from limb in a gruesome way, to "avenge her sister". . Of all murderers / companions, Verdana probably killed the most. Unless Zevran is as good as he says he is :P Or Leliana was a very active bard / spy.

The only person I can see refusing to work with Anders is Sebastian.

@Sylvanpyxie - I see what you are saying, it makes sense. Although Eltina's death can make Sebastian feel guilty for not committing 100% to the chantry and feeling responsible for not stopping Anders... Guilt could drive him to be a Chantry Zealot or to leave the Chantry, don't you think ?

I don't think it'll be the same. You should compare working with Anders for Sebastian. Cassandra and Cullen as it was working with Loghain for Alistair.
Putting aside Sebastian (which is in the same situation of Alistair), Cassandra and Cullen are a seeker and a templar, they firmly believe in the Maker, and work for the Chantry. Cullen, in particular, disliked magic and mages, and can't trust them.
Now, do you think they'll work with the mage responsible of the murder of hundreds of people (includind the Grand Cleric), with a magical bomb, in a Chantry? It was basically a declaration of war to the Chantry, thus to the templars and seekers. And Anders is/could be considered an abomination, they would kill him (expecially Cullen, after the events of DAO).
Plus, to make him a companion they should either make him available to the people that spared him (as in ME3 with Garrus and Tali) or making him alive as canon. I think some people wouldn't like it (myself included).

I don't think an unconfirmed leak is a reason to stop speculating... if anything, it should only really fuel it. The game hasn't even been announced yet, I hardly think we can say we know enough about any one aspect of it for a thread to be "superfluous".

And seriously, find me one message board thread on the internet that couldn't be described as "superfluous"... Image IPB

If Sebastian felt the least bit responsible for Elthina's death... It would completely go against his character. One of Sebastian's failings is he refuses to take responsibility for anything, even if it is his fault. (Which the chantry wasn't)

Guilt could drive him back to the Chantry, it's true enough and i never argued otherwise. I don't think Sebastian deals well with emotion in excess, though. So, I, personally, can't imagine him returning to a quiet life of contemplation if he *is* consumed with guilt. It seems more likely, to me, that he'd be more inclinced to go down a path of self destruction and bitterness than anything else, given his character.

I'm not here saying that there isn't a single hope in hell he'd return to the Chantry, anything is possible. What i'm saying is that there are a massive number of reasons that he wouldn't be the least bit interested in remaining under Chantry rule, and as a result he could be a potential companion. An interesting one at that.

This is all, of course, just how i interpret his character.

Edit: I have recently discovered that typing on a tiny laptop is hard. *Sniffle* So i'm fixing it so it actually makes sense.

I sincerely hope that Cullen won't be a companion in DA3. I had enough of one-dimensional characters in DA2 constantly whining about how awful mages/templars are. Unless they do a 180 on his character like they did with Anders between Awakening and DA2, but in a good way that is.

All signs surely pointed towards Sebastian finally getting round to taking his principality back, surely? I mean IIRC he more or less justifies sticking with the Chantry because Elthina needs him, and because Starkhaven doesn't really need him. But with Elthina dead and the world falling apart, Starkhaven needs its Prince.

If he's still waffling, we'd really really need the ability to give him a kick.

Sure, if he manages to get the political and military support to win the city back. The throne is currently being held by a cousin or something. I don't doubt for a second that he would try to retake his family's place of honour, and he grows up so much in the last 20 mintues of DA2 that he'd make an excellent Prince by that point.

Given Sebastian's recent involvement in Kirkwall's crazy times, though, I'm not sure how easily he would find allies to retake the city, and if he *could* find the allies, would they truly be able to take it?

There are a lot of variables to Sebastian's character. What will happen to him or what kind of person he'll become is impossible to pin-point, his character is pretty much wide open by the end of Dragon Age 2. Can't truly predict what will happen, so it's fun to speculate.

If he's still waffling, we'd really really need the ability to give him a kick.

I agree, boy does need a kick up the behind.

Edit: Just realised how fangirlishly i'm defending Sebastian's inclusion in future titles, so i feel i need to point out that i'm not entirely "OMIGOSH SO DREAMY" obsessive, I just don't like the fact that his story is so completely unfinished.

Is quite allright, you gave me a lot of things to ponder about his character.  He is a lot more than I gave him credit for. I shall pay more attention to him in my next playthrough.. Until now he was a bit annoying to me, but I do see all the potential you mentioned.

I hope it's mostly new companion characters, with former companions being in the game as NPC's for the most part. An adventure or two with those former companions would be fun... where the NPC fights alongside but not as a member of the party eems like the easiest way to satisfy anyone's nostalgia I hope.

So what is this leak everyone is on about? Something about a survey? I was going to compile some more potentials, but I'm wondering if I should bother...

So far what I've been thinking is

1.  A tevintar magister.  Personally I would say a female magister who is in her early 20s, youngest daughter of a senator, and is I Orlais on order of the senate.  Potentially also has 2 other special things, a tevintar dragon tatto that allows the use of blood magic without Cutting one's self, and a proto warden 2.0 that tevintar made combining their advanced magic knowledge with Avernus' research. Role DPS Mage

2.  A female imperial assassin who is bound with a desire demon.  Maybe like early 30s, her and the desire demon while stil being separate personality though they have a more synergistic relationship than anders and justice, and was sent to Orlais on a secret mission form the Archon.  Also it would be rumored she killed the last arishok before sten, depending on if hawke killed the arishok, who it was changes. Role Dual Wield Rouge

3. A female tal vashoth kossith that wields 2 handed.  Essentially she is from a tribe of tal vashoth who are trying to found a kossith society free from the qun and until meeting you she has been working as a mercenary to earn money to help support the tribe. Role Melee DPS

4. A male Orlesian chevalier who is 1 handed and shield.  Essentially your average chevalier except he also knows Templar powers since he previously served at the estate of an ex knight commander who in a semi state of dementia in his wanning years and thought the chevaliers guarding the the estate were his templar recruits. Role Melee Tank

5. Charade Amell,  she would be our tie in to DA2, where she's gone on to a life of adventuring and treasure hunting so she can keep on the move and attempt to avoid the seekers, who grasping at straws thinks like Varric she might know where Hawke ran off to. Role Archer Rouge

6. A spirit healer elf.  He would essentially be an elf whose life is trapped between the dalish life and city elf life as he was born dalish and was early on being trained to potentially become a keeper one day, but his tribe was destroyed when a group of tevintar templars caught onto the location of their tribe when they were passing close to the tevintar border.  Being one of the few to escape and unable to find another tribe quick enough he was forced to go to an alienage, where he was then taken in by the elves of the alienage and has been with them since.  Role Healer Mage

I'd like a female Kossith and a Disciple. Beyond that, I think I'm content, though if the world is getting bigger I'd like that to be reflected in my party. More diversity, I mean.

Hey, you know what? Why can't my companions be one of the heroes? I mean, in every game YOU always play "the guy". The hero, the one that saves the day or whatever. But looking back to the progenitus of the very idea, Ahem Lord of the Rings, 9 companions that were all heroes! Heck in a video game you would have played Gandalf or Aragorn, but it was Frodo and Sam that really ended up saving the day.

And while maybe the spotlight shouldn't be totally on someone else and off you, it would be neat to share it with one or two of the more heroic people in your party. Have them step up and do some stuff instead of you bossing them around all the time :)

Thing is if you make 1-2 of your companions equal to or as heroic to the pc then you start killing group diversity, since most people would wonder why take the other comps when the heroic ones cause vastly better outcomes in certain situations.

Fiona is a mage/warden character from the books The Calling and Asunder. Fiona had an affair with Maric in The Calling.

I wouldn't call it an affair.  More like a moment in the Deep Roads.

It's also technically not an 'affair' in the sense of infidelity because his wife was then dead.

Female Dwarf: She is a tinkerer, makes fancy gizmos. Orliseans like those kinds of fancy things. Perhaps she packs some kind of dwarf version of a flint lock pistol, dual wielding?

Female Qunari: A female who did not like her place in the Qun and wished to be a warrior, she could be a lancer type.

Male Elf Mage: An elf from the Tevinter Imperium, but has found an even deeper well of magic past that of Blood Magic.
