It is way too early for this.
It's already a quarter to four? In Central Time, anyway.
Maybe you're right, but it's not hurting anything. And as far as speculating on DA2 characters going forward, we know pretty much all we're going to about them already, I'd wager, I don't see how there would be any tactical advantage in waiting for more info on them to speculate with. Besides, what's the fun of wild speculation if you wait long enough for there to be solid evidence? We can save that for the Dragon Age 3 Companion Educated Guessing thread.

Please be all new people. I don't want to deal with more resurrections for the sake of railroad plot.
I hear you on that. That's why I tried to limit it to peeps that can't be gibbed, but I let others go wild so no one can accuse me of limiting other's imaginations. Although I'll probably break that rule when I get to my Origins/Awakening speculations... but all in all, I agree and I think it would make it simpler for Bioware to maintain a cohesive continuity and have less import bugs. But maybe they are planning ahead better now... obviously whoever wrote Awakening had no idea where DA2 was headed, or some of these problems wouldn't exist in the first place.

As long as the character can't be killed on screen I say that it is all right to bring them back because you can't really be sure they are dead just because someone say they are.
That said there are plenty of plot shielded person in da2 to pick from.

O.o
If not i hope we get to see more of Feynriel and Lia (the elven girl you save from the mage) seeing as after you save her she starts training how to fight and eventually joins the guard.

4.Darkspawn(if ME2 can get a Geth,why not DA3 ;P)
5.Conner
Actually, with the story of Awakening and such, I'd think a darkspawn wouldn't be out of the question.

I thought dragon age 3 was going to have an entirely new protagonist with the ending to hawke's story being drawn to a conclusion through dlc and maybe an expansion.

That's my understanding too, but like I said in the first post, the idea originally sprang from Isabela and Merrill (both minor characters in DA:O) ending up as companions in DA2. And Anders, to a lesser extent. Even though DA2 left the Warden out of the proceedings. So it seems conceivable that some DA2 NPCs might end up as companions to the hero of DA3. Perhaps Bioware even intentionally included some future companions as NPCs or perhaps our impassioned pleas can convince them to add one. :innocent: (Stroud plz)

I think the only companions (and main NPCs) Hawke meets that can't die are:
-Cullen
-Isabela
-Varric
-Aveline
Everyone else just about can be killed (I'm probably missing a few though).
And if I see another "Oh we just said he's dead but he's not hee hee!" I'm telling this series to go to hell and sticking with the ME crew. At least there Dead is Dead (unless it's Shepard whose ressurrection was a plot point and obvious can't stay dead was obvious).

They need to bring Alistair back, i may die if they don't! I know i'd cry if they didn't.
Personally, i'd have:
1 Alistair - The best, most evolved and in depth character of the entire series
2 Cullen
3 Morrigan
4 Leliana
5 Zevran or someone similar
6 Someone like Wynne
7 Anders, he was the best of a bad bunch
8 Connor
9 Ser Gilmore (he could have survived the attack at Highever)
10 Sigrun or another female dwarf

Sebastian Vael, is my personal must see again. Sebastian didn't have much of an impact in Dragon Age 2, he was neglected a lot by a large number of players. His religious beliefs made him hard to connect with for some, and his uncertainty over retaking Starkhaven or not annoyed a lot of people.
There are a lot of things i didn't, and still don't, like about Sebastian. One of them is the fact i can't tell him to shoot a certain someone. Another is the fact he wasn't developed fully as a character. However my biggest issue with Sebastian as a character was his unyielding devotion to the Chantry, and the Maker.
The Chantry i could understand, he was forced there initially, and it did eventually become his home. Can't fault a man for loving his home. However, after all the things Sebastian went through, it bothered me that his devotion to the Maker wasn't shaken, not his faith, his devotion. Sebastian is far too deep in his religion to question the existence of the Maker, but his unwavering devotion to is something that amazes, and annoys, me.
However there are a number of things i love about him. His loyalty, being one of the things i like most. Sebastian might betray Hawke if a certain someone isn't gutted like a fish, but that isn't a betrayal, that's loyalty to a person that means more to him than Hawke ever will, Elthena was like a mother to Sebastian, and him swearing revenge for her death is proof, to me, that he's extremely loyal.
His strong sense of justice comes up at the same point. Elthena was murdered, he wants her murderer to suffer the same. It's a tried and true sense of justice that you don't often see in characters these days. Justice isn't kind, gentle, or merciful. It's harsh and unyielding, and that's exactly how Sebastian sees it. He did the exact same thing with the Mercenary group that killed his Family, he wanted them hunted down and killed. Justice in it's purist form.
As for his passion.. Before the Chantry he was a man of all vices, be it drink, women or gambling. His passion might not be as evident as that in game, but we've heard of his past, we've witnessed his passion to do good in the present...
....Uh... Sorry, that turned into a rant....
The reason i want to see Sebastian again, and with a fairly large role as a Companion, is because Sebastian Vael has the most potential in a character that i have ever seen.
Between his devotion to the Chantry, the Maker and his unyielding, fiery passion, Sebastian's personality can be shaped into something charming, flirtatious, distrustful, rude, vulnerable or strong. Dark or light. His position as Prince of Starkhaven and Brother of the Chantry means he has a story that can be expanded on in so many different ways.
Sebastian Vael has the potential to be a remarkable character, possibly even one of the greatest characters Bioware ever create.
But i suppose at this point, i'll just be thankful if he doesn't end up a cameo.

I'd also like to see a female Tal'Vashoth, I've been wondering what they look like.

1. Cassandra
2. Bethany
3. Sigrun
4. Shale
5. Charade
6. Tallis
Somebody mentioned Wynne having a son, that might be a good addition also. Plus that guy from DAO, the one I always thought was the 'real' son of King Maric, the blood mage with the good heart who you help in the Mage origin, and then gets captured later in the game, and he helps you save Connor, and then you decide what to do with him. I'd like him to be a potential member of the team also. Everybody else should be all new.
