Some cameos from DA:O and DA2 are expected of course, but the party should be comprised entirely of new characters.

Seriously though, I'd like to at least know what became of all the DA2 crew. Other than that, I'd like an entirely new group of teammates to work with. Preferably ones that don't have so many emotional issues to wade through.
Oh, and i really don't like the rivalmance angle. It just doen't make sense to me.

My only concern is that he'd be too old for a love interest if DA3 is set some years after DA2... then again Anders was getting on bit and you could romance him, so I dunno, maybe they'd retcon his age or just not mention it?

Warriors:
Cullen: He's a "for". He's been through a lot and is undergoing a crisis of faith, but he's defintely pro-Chantry, even if he isn't "Kill all mages!"
Maraas: If he cared about the Chantry, he wouldn't like it.
Dwarven mercenary: Doesn't know, doesn't care. Give him his money and don't even think about tossing him.
Rogues:
Cassandra: "For." She's a Seeker.
Elven female assassin: The Chantry has been mistreating elves for centuries. She doesn't like them much.
Sigrun: She has more important things to think about, but she does it in a perky, humorous way.
Mages:
Galyan: He's "for". He likes that whole "freedom for mages" thing, but he's suprisingly devout.
Kossith female mage who has left the Qun
Elven male mage, possibly Dalish, who's entirely new to the game

how can you even begin to guess who will be in the next one when the main plot or even where it will be at has not been said
or even who the hero will be

(Not in order,)
1. Morrigan. She has so much more to give as a character and her experiences in the beyond could change her and harden her (if hardening Morrigan is even possible in light of her character.) I can't see Flemeth-- too powerful a character. How lame would it be if some Carta Thug could kill Flemeth?
2. Charade. She seems pretty stable to become one, and her link to Hawke could be our link to a cameo.
3. I'm going to throw this out there because it's a hilarious thought: The seller from 'A Herbalist task.' he can't die and he met Hawke on many occasions.
4. Cassandra.
5. Cullen
6. I agree that Rhys would be an awesome character.
7. Justice, considering him and Anders separate.

I wonder if we will be forced to accept certain members, or if we can choose and deny members based on our allegiance (assuming the protagonist has a choice in the matter). I doubt a pro-mage protagonist will want to work with templars who have an opposing agenda, and vice versa.
Weren't we able to do this in DA:O? I don't think I ever used that conversation option but I remember there being an option to tell a party member that they needed to leave. They could probably bring that back.

Since Bioware has made a tradition out of making minor past characters the new main characters, I'm going to take a shot at guessing:
Lol@Morrigan being a "minor character". She's the face character for an entire game (Origins). She's the only one with a unique outfit, and she's the only companion that you can't kill...ever.

Yes, except for i'm thinking Alistair. If his approval gets low enough, I think he just tells you that he hopes you die a horrible death, but continues on with you anyway.

You could kill her at the end of witch hunt, if you wanted to be a b@st@rd.Alexandrine Delassixe wrote...

Cassandra is an obvious shoo in. There won't any returning companions from either game, because the new protagonist would have to get to know them from scratch, which would be boring for the player, who already knows them. They may show up as npcs though.

I doubt that, since DA3 itself isn't confirmed yet. And returning favorites could mean npcs like cullen, not necissarly companions.Melca36 wrote...

Not everyone bought Witch Hunt...I only have it because I have the Ulitmate Edition. And anyway, You don't know what happened to her after you stab her. She might be died but then she might have...I don't know taken a pinch of the Ashes during the main quest and used it to heal herself. Blah.

Go do a search. It was stated by one of the developers in a post.
They want the game to sell so there will be returning companions. LOL

You shouldnt be suprised. They brought back Anders didn't they? Nobody expected Isabela didn't they?
There is no doubt they will bring somebody back from the first and second games and one character will be somebody we least expect....like how Isabela was a surprise.

I haven't given up on Galyan as a companion. He doesn't have Morrigan's side boobs, but he has several qualities (humor, patience, and rationality) that make him attractive as a companion. And no, it really is possible to write a character with a sense of humor that is not an Alistair clone.

To be fair Isabela was never a companion, she was barely a character in Origins. And Anders was a expansion character with a whole new backstory to explore in DA2. IF they do bring in a old companion it would be someone with little emotional baggage to go through, like Varric. Which would be awesome. Since Varric is awesome.
Spoilers from Asunder:
I want Cole as a companion. Not Rhys because he's way too much of a goody two shoes, also, he's old. Cole would be waaaaay better especially with the whole spirit/demon/need-to-kill-to-feel real/exist-thing he has going on. Evangeline would be interesting as well, especially with Wynne's spirit inside her. I would be totally cool with the idea with her joining because Rhys died some boring death in boring town.
Cullen would be cool too I guess. I'm not a fanboy like some but he's a pretty decent character. I also like his voice actor.

I can accept Bhodan showing up again -wandering trader and all that- but I kind of expect Cullen to be tied down to the Kirkwall Circle.
Also, I don't really like Cullen, but that's totally a secondary consideration, honest.

Um.......Wynne was old. Oghren wasn't exactly young either. Varric and Isabela aren't exactly in their 20s.
Why the age bias?
