My easy way of beating it:

When the guys is available to attack, switch all your party members tactics to aggressive.
When you have to go destroy the statues when all the crazy elemental stuff is happening, switch everyone's tactics to defensive.

I did this without a healer, on hard, and while I had to us mythal's favor grenades a couple times for someone who got stuck, for the most part is made the battle pretty easy. Just tedious to pause and switch everyone's tactics over and over.

Well I just got back into this game, bought Legacy, and started a new character so I did Legacy in Act I since I was anxious to see. Since I'm the kind of person that doesn't like reading strats and figuring out things for myself I must say this was a very fun fight to learn and I ended up with the same strategy posted here, only the fire hurt a lot more since my characters were low level (didn't have a lot of Con) and I didn't know to bring Fire Ward runes ahead of time.

Anyways, the strategy here is a good one, just focus on taking your time if you need to during the fire phases and time killing the shades with as the fire passes by for free heals. Once those phases are over just avoid the falling ice and lightning in the last stage and it should be an easy kill (easy of course being relative to the skills, party members, and gear that you bring as well as the game difficulty). I ended up using Bethany, Anders, and Fenris along with my own 2h Hawke; not exactly the best idea bringing a second melee but I wanted to experiment with party members.

A lot of the problem is the AI of the party it sucks but then i the game had this problem all the time. that why i used a lot of pot on my frist run. After losing two of them in one go could not heal them fast. YOU know who was my healer who now dead.
It would of bee nice to have a good old stand up slug in out feast but hay never happens. there all ways a tactic to win.

after a few more go's I have done it without hinding out a the back. that was done by stopping the game very few seconds to give orders boring as hell but it works. if your not going to stop he game to give orders then your dead lol.

I don't blame for AI entirely. I think it is just require time and strategy to deal with this new way of boss fighting. Bioware use environmental set up to make the boss fight more interesting and challenage ( if you want to put it that way). I like their approach on this change.
Thb the Legacy this dlc is far more better than the DA2 itself...... in my opinion.:innocent:

I partly agree with you yes they did use the environmental
set up to make the boss fight more interesting. It is a balance between
interesting and game play flow. It would of work a lot better if the NCP AI was
a lot better waling into dead end and getting stuck on the environment is the
main problem. The way it is now just does not work for me. Where is the fun in
having to stop the game to give orders every 2 seconds. I guess I could of
doing the fight without doing that as I did get the end of it almost on my first
run.

I loved the high dragon fight that is more my type of fight.
But then I do like to play as a tank. Mostly or a mage. I love them to do
proper battle mage in DA3 that would be cool.

DA2 is far to buggy as game still where as Legacy is not
that why it is better lol
