Also, Bioware has said the level cap is 60 and that you start ME3 at the level you ended ME2 with.

I am extremely excited about that. My adept Shepard was wondering why he lost all of his swagger after he woke up from the Lazarus Project; you can't just unlearn those mad biotic skills.

I imagine some of the abilities have changed a bit - sabotage mixes ME1's sabotage with ME2's AI hacking - but from what I remember from the tweet you start with the equivalent of 30 levels worth of points, if you import a level 30 character.Biotic Sage wrote...

Yeah that's what I inferred when I read it too. It wouldn't be fair if they locked us into our ME2 point allocation, especially since they revamped the entire power system. It's going to be very exciting booting up ME3 and seeing all of my hard work in the previous games generate 60 immediate squad points

Its going to be awesome. I'm going to put all the points I can into the passive ability to ensure I can maximise my paragon/renegade and make sure I don't miss out on any charm or intimidate options.Biotic Sage wrote...

Yeah, I'm actually gonna test that out Before ME3, 2 playthroughs for myself, 1 Vanguard, 1 Adept, 1 saves Kaidan, the Other saves Ashley, otherwise their completely identicle (Same Backgrounds, both pure paragons), BUT the Vanguard gets his Passive ability maxed out 1st, like literally every point available will go towards it, but the Adept will have the passive maxed out last- as in, Singularity, Pull, Throw and Warp will each be maxed out before too, let's see how this turns out Speech-wiseCandidate 88766 wrote...

It did indeed have two drop off points in the number of points you earned. Once somewhere around level 20... the second at or just below level 40.
Lvl 1-5 = 3 points.
Lvl 5-35 = 2 points.
lvl 35 -60 = 1 point.
Total 100 point.

Are you saying this was the progression for ME1 or a possible progression for ME3? If it's for ME1, I can't remember the exact pattern, but I'm pretty sure you ended up with more than 100 total points. If you're talking about ME3, that would be a possibility if they haven't already shown us multiple level 18 characters who all have a total of 36 squad points.

It was the progression in ME 1(though you got some free points in charm/intimidate so you could end up with a full 108 points in one play though if you pushed the full P/R spectrum), i guess it could be the same for ME 3 after all i don't think we should draw to many conclusions from characters shown in demos.. but who knows.

Ah, ok that makes sense. I forgot about the free points for charm/intimidate. I think it's probably safe to draw conclusions about the power system at this point in development; 6 months isn't really enough time to completely restructure foundational elements like that, more for tweeking and refining. However, I would never say to place 100% faith in ANYTHING pre-launch, but I could easily put about 95% in this particular aspect considering what I know from past experience with following game development.

cool beans. this might mean imported shep might start out at the level he/she was at instead of lvl 1.
I'm pretty sure that it's already been confirmed somewhere that Shepard starts out at the same level they ended ME2 with.
i haven't seen any confirmation of this anywhere to date and it isn't a reasonable assumption in video games.
No, this one is actually confirmed.

-Level 60 is the cap
-Apart from a few small exceptions (renamed powers, tweaks) you have the same level and powers you had at the end of ME2.

Thanks for the confirmation. Much appreciated. Are you by any chance willing to go on record about how many total squad points we can accumulate by level 60? If not, are you willing to give us an estimate?
