Yeah, we're figuring the former. Current math puts the latter at 168; 21 points in 8 different powers.

120 is the number of squad points you get if the 2 pt per level pattern stays the same all the way until 60.  Considering both ME1 and ME2, it probably won't.  At least that's my assessment.  168 is the number for maxing out 8 total powers.

So yeah if you read the whole OP, it was 100 legit points earned.

Not that I expect it to work, but go 189 in case there's bonus powers.

where Michael Gamble provides an example that you can have 10 powers (I assume although it is not stated this includes bonus) and you have the points to develop 6 of them. Given 21 points to fully upgrade a power that would tend to suggest (to me at least) 120 ish points.

I'm pulling for a variety of non-level squad point aquisition levels. 3 per for 58-59 levels seems...blah.

That's effectively the equalivilent of almost 3 pts per level( it's  actually avearages out to 2.96 pts per level) but still that's a rather impressive amount.... Good thing, I have a couple of level 30 characters ready to import already.

Maybe since the powers themselves have a lot more variability to them, it's not as necessary to limit our total squad points. Like, even with a larger amount of skill points, because each power has multiple different variations, you could still have a significant amount of build variability even though you're able to max most of your powers...

It could be something as simple as it is the last game, so your character should be maxed out and epic at the end.

That is true, but that's like introducing more complexity to a situation while having it net the same amount of choice. 

The power evolutions definitely would add depth if they still kept the system so that you could only max some of your powers instead of all of them.  But since you can get all the powers, the choice of "which powers should I take?" become irrelevant, and switches over to "which evolutions should I take?"

I want both of these questions to be relevant.  That is a deep RPG system.

The most annoying feature of the ME2 leveling system was that you would end up with 1 or 2 points which would be useless and would just be sitting there doing nothing.

Wonder how they plan to introduce the ME2 points from the save file to ME3.

Based on what we know, we'll be able to max almost everything by level 60. This is with a bonus power. Shepard is officially awesome.

So I did some quick build calculations and it looks like

7 Powers @ lvl 6 and 2 Powers @ Lvl 5 (with one point remaining)
or
8 Powers @ lvl 6 and 1 Power @ Lvl 4 (with no points remaining)
