Hey all,

I was having trouble logging in to my EA Origins account via Mass Effect 2... long story short you can't have special characters in you account password. (*, #, %, @, ^, etc)  Anyway, it's a known issue and has been reported for a few other older games on the EA forums:

support.ea.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3266/kw/origin%20account

To fix this all you need to do is change your Origins account password and remove any special characters.

Hopefully this helps

I think it would have been helpful, as I already went through this whole process/resolution thing about the special characters not being allowed and most people just ignored my post, and the ones that responded were poo-pooing the fact that I was trying to help. Hopefully someone will benefit from our posts because it is a highly frustrating game/Origin flaw that should be addressed. Who wants to start contacting EA Support? (that's gonna be Bogsnot1's suggestion)

Glad to see it's affecting someone else, but obviously my post several weeks back about it went unnoticed, eh? It's nice that someone else has posted about this as well. I wonder why Origin even allows you to put special characters in your passwords if the games don't support them. Seems silly.

This is a helpful post.

I recently changed all my PWs due to the hacking at gaming sites and included special characters to maximise security. After returning to ME2 after a long break, I found myself unable to connect to the network. This post explains why.

The Cerberus Network login should support special characters and while it may not be a high priority, I hope that EA/BW consider fixing this for whatever EA Origins/Cerberus Network login DRM-proxy system they use for ME3 .

Can't be too hard to have the login recognise ^ or * or @ !
