it is not easy to see the internal game mechanics.
is the DLC easier if you begin it later in main game or do some/all enemies scale to match your currecnt character levels?
if the latter, do you still benefit from better equipment/ more runes or do enemies scale to nullify those also ?
LEGACY - does difficulty scale with character level

I've played it around level 22, and my rogue was ginsue-knifing her way through stuff. I tried it out on a level 5 mage just for S&G. The traps (in the first part) seem to be scaled to the level of finding them, mobs were of appropriate level for fighting at that low experience. Not a lot of items to be found, and he (Varric) couldn't open a couple of the doors with lockpicking either. Also the preromanced Hawke changes Varric's line (about virgins) with that one goofy dude you fight just before the point of no return.
Plus, the mage didn't have a lot of oomph at that level, making fights very challenging, even with his gear (I have several mods and the Bioware DLC item pack).
I didn't go past that one boss where you get locked in, so I couldn't say about the rest of the DLC. I should think a decent time to tackle it is around at least level 10 or so, allowing you to start some specialization and giving Anders (or a Spirit healer) group heal and rez which admittedly would have made those fights at least a little less rough. Or allowing a rogue to have enough cunning to pick the locks on those various rooms which have a decent amount of cash and extra potions behind them.
I play on Normal, admittedly I'm not the best player.
