i've been scouring the wiki and da nexus, and... i'm just not finding 'instructions for morons' at any of these places.

here's what i want to do -- you can laugh -- i want to extract some female clothes and some male clothes, and then i want to size/scale/position the female clothes to fit the male model.  in short, so my guys can dress in drag.  no, seriously.

the tutorials i've found are how to make a new longsword item in the toolset (using existing models).  or how to retexture a robe (changing texture only).  does anybody know of a tutorial for changing an actual mesh model?

does anybody know a proper male model i should use as a base?  to get the arms right?  or i suppose there are arms on the female dresses i can keep?  i just don't know.

and at the end of the day, i need to get the new models into the toolset/game so i can use them to make the items.  is there a tutorial for that, too?

You'll want to use Eshme's script for this I would think, which will mean either Max or GMax. You'd need to import the appropriate female model and then scale it up. According to apr-base, a human female is 1.68m versus 1.75m for males, which gives a required scale factor of 104.1666666666667%. You'd need to scale everything (the rig, mesh, collision, etc.), then re-export with an appropriate name. However, while scaling by 104ish% will give you a mesh the right height, for some meshes at least the proportions of male and female bodies are different, so things like hands, elbows, hips, etc. won't line up. This will possibly lead to some stretching when animating. You may want to discuss the best scaling method with Eshme. You could just select the GOB and uniform scale, but it might be better to use a script command.

Once you have the model, everything else is straight forward. It's exactly the same as any other custom item - create an extended variation GDA, create a UTI, create a script to load it into the player's inventory (or place it on a vendor, in a chest, etc.). There are various tutorials around. This one should cover most of the basics - http://social.biowar.../5339/blog/576/. For extending GDAs, I really should add a tutorial to the wiki, given how often it comes up. In the meantime, here's one of my previous posts describing the process - http://social.biowar...4695031#4703191. And finally there are some fairly long-winded musings from me in this thread which may (or may not) be relevant and/or of interest.

Ooh, any chance you could get male clothes to fit females?

My Lady cousland despises dresses with a vengeance and would love to run around in a pair of non-armor trousers now and then ;)

I was thinking of trying it myself but have only just got the hang of toolkit face customisation.

Let me know if you manage it and I'll be first in line to try out your mod. :wizard:

Should work exactly the same way, you'd just scale the meshes down instead - 96%.

Cool, will give it a try once I get my head around the toolset :)
