The Valve lithos are more expensive, twice what Bioware charges, I believe...but Bioware is now running 4 to 8 times as many lithos. That seems a bit disproportionate, and that's what people are getting at when they compare this to other litho releases.
Meanwhile, still hmm-ing and ha-ing over my decision on the single.

I'm sticking with my guns and not purchasing these.
Same here. Personally I thought the art was a little lackluster.

This. Don't think either of these are going to sell out anytime soon.AgenTBC wrote...
Considering the vastly expanded number of lithographs and the higher price these are going to easy to get. I'm considering cancelling my order and waiting until you can get the 2-pack for $50. Which I am sure will happen.

The lowest number I've ever received was my #77 Team and I actually thought I should have gotten a lower number. I always order on the first release with seconds of it hitting the store and I've always received numbers in the 300's for my other lithos.
I still havent had mine shipped!

Possible. Some of Watts stuff also looks like he's used speed painting techniques, these don't look that way from the images, but time will tell us once they're shipped. I'm definitely with others on the thoughts these could suffer the same fate as korlus (now selling on ebay under $40) or even purgatory and pragia (forever stocked in the store, despite price reductions and sales.)
Either way, keeping my order, lol.

Pragia is probably going to be out of stock soon (only 8 available) but Purgatory is going to be around for awhile with 144 left... Don't know how Pragia ended up selling more.

Pragia's Art is better in my opinion. I always thought Pragia's art was some of the best mass effect art, unfortunately it's not a very important place in the mass effect universe hence it didn't sell well.

I know you've got them (love that framing work you've been doing!) too, but my estimation as a fellow artist is that purgatory is much more speedpaint obvious than pragia. My friends doing concept speed paints estimate that piece at around a 30-90min paint out. As a fellow customer, Pragia wins over purgatory because of the colors; the cool blues and stylistic light flaring are much more visually appealing to purgatory's slate and steel.

Board room meeting:
Exec #1 - "We need to keep milking these lithos before the fan base hates us!"
Exec #2 - "Ah ha! Let's have a lithograph of the new SR2 where the ship is almost completely obscured by a building!"
Exec #1 - "Brilliant! People will buy it because it's limited edition and says 'Mass Effect'...Let's go count our stacks of money!"

NewFoundTerror, if you miss out, that's part of being a collector. I had to miss out on Cerberus because I didn't have the cash on hand that day. Does that mean I think we need to produce more? Absolutely not. I just got the mini litho, I'm not about to spend $100+ on ebay.
I agree with you! It just sucks that these guys buy them just to turn a buck. I've been lucky enough not to miss out on any lithos except the 1st 5 ever made. I have a room full of them and my wife hates it but o well. LOL

Ugh, I know. I'm glad they put the one-per-customer limit on these for that reason. I'm not that happy they decided to make the unsigned lithos the same size, though.

You know I didnt notice the 1 per this time? Just tried to order one and nothing saying 1 per customer? Did they remove it with the hike in numbers??

Could be? I could think of a couple reasons given the numbers hike; chiefly:
- resellers, of course. want their piece of the pies.
- some collectors prefer to buy 2 for themselves: 1 to display and 1 to store.

The Valve lithos are also twice as big, though: 36x24 compared to Bioware's 18x24. Their $100 price tag may be more than twice Bioware's former $40, though I've found that price often goes up exponentially with size and you get a nice certificate of authenticity, too.TheKingBoar wrote...
The thing about the Value/Ubisoft lithos is they cost a lot more than the Bioware ones do. They may not be increasing the price, but they're already so much more expensive. I suggested that that is the other alternative to increasing the runs, but I'm willing to bet my collection on what the reaction to that would be.
As for this run, I decided to get them anyway since I like the Dead Reaper litho and I'm prepared to see what I think of the Prototype when I see it up close: I've been pleasantly surprised by the likes of Korlus and The Wards which I felt distinctly "meh" about when ordering. But this was the first time I was not at all bothered about keeping an eye on the release schedule, pretty much taking the opinion that if I missed out, so what? I think they should really re-think this strategy as indifference will ultimately hurt them more than anger.
