The Valve lithos are also twice as big, though: 36x24 compared to Bioware's 18x24. Their $100 price tag may be more than twice Bioware's former $40, though I've found that price often goes up exponentially with size and you get a nice certificate of authenticity, too.
As for this run, I decided to get them anyway since I like the Dead Reaper litho and I'm prepared to see what I think of the Prototype when I see it up close: I've been pleasantly surprised by the likes of Korlus and The Wards which I felt distinctly "meh" about when ordering. But this was the first time I was not at all bothered about keeping an eye on the release schedule, pretty much taking the opinion that if I missed out, so what? I think they should really re-think this strategy as indifference will ultimately hurt them more than anger.
Those valve lithos are beauties.
I agree too; i'm buying these as a collection completion habit & because i hope to be impressed in person, like korlus (that one surprised me once i got it), and not like the cerberus (still meh on that one, sadly).

They are. Some of them I feel a bit "take it or leave it... so I'll leave it" but when they hit the right note with me, I think they're very impressive. As with the Bioware ones, they look so much better in person in a way that you can't really capture on screen.______ wrote...

I'm firmly of the opinion that Korlus is one of the most underrated lithographs they've done to date. But I guess "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" and all that. Ultimately, I collect them because I like them as pieces of art: their monetary value is nice to have, but it's still secondary. I think that it's rather sad when people collect art purely as an investment as it's really meant to be appreciated. Knowing it's part of a limited run does increase that appreciation a little, but in this case the likelihood that they've annihilated their second-hand value isn't really an issue for me; in fact it was nice to come along a couple of hours after the release to find them still in stock. It's certainly helped my blood pressure!______ wrote...

Thumbs down for raising the price again though.

also, the two pack is the exact same price as the old lithos. a nice reward for buying early.

i'm not sure who you're spiting. it's much better this way than previously.
i'd rather have THBS and bioware get my money than have leeches and vultures spam the pre-sale, buying up the stock and then reselling on eBay for 10x the original value. the only people who won were the scalpers. legitimate fans missed out because the site was flogged to a crawl with traffic.
so what if they're not as exclusive. they're nice pieces of art and this way more people can enjoy the scenery of mass effect without going bankrupt.

The whole point of the signed ones was that they were exclusive. The unsigned ones were for the people who either couldn't afford the regular one, missed out the first time, or couldn't afford Ebay prices. I just paid a fortune for Illium and I would rather have that then for them to increase the print run.

nobody outside of the nerd gamer crew cares about how exclusive they are. $1000 for a video game lithograph is a travesty of free market economics.
everyone can complain, but the reality is that now many more people can enjoy the artwork for the sake of art and for the sake of appreciating an excellent space opera series rather than for the sake of money making.

You obviously don't understand economics if you think $1000 is overpriced.
The unsigned ones are the same size as the regular ones. No difference whatsoever other than the signature. Don't use art as an excuse. This was clearly Bioware Store wanting more money and some fans wanting more signed ones so they feel special and don't want to feel left out.

Once they enacted the one litho rule, it killed the "scalpers." I saw very few lithos on ebay once that happened, so a lot of legit fans are getting the lithos compared to the ebay sellers. At risk of sounding like a broken record, increasing the run to satisfy those who miss out only hurts the collectible nature of the product. And, by increasing the run, they may get more lax in the one litho per person rule, which will allow scalpers to do their thing again.
Well, as someone who missed out on the team and all the earliest lithos.. MOAR ON EBAY PLEASE.
Then again, as someone who paid north of 300 bucks for Tali, I appreciate more the rarity of them and the concepts of limiting per customer buys to help make sure that from the get go, they get in the right hands, right away, and cut out as many middlemen marking it up and up and up as possible.
Oh, the conflicted emotions, they hurt my processes.

I feel your pain, I was thisclose to missing out on the Team. But I see my litho-collecting in a more philosophical way...if I miss out, oh well, less money I'm making myself spend. The only litho I'm considering buying on ebay is Normandy, but only because I really like it and didn't even know about these lithos when it was released.
I agree, I've limited my ebay buying to lithos i really want at this point; so i'm stalking for normandy, reasonably priced team, ilium.. you get the idea. there's a hierarchy since like you, i think of it as less money spent today if i miss out.
I paid what I paid for Tali simply because it was a matter of my budget, my personal value of the litho, and the selling prices all lining up; if any hadn't, i wouldn't have stretched my wallet or convinced myself to buy it, i'd have kept waiting.

That is what the unsigned ones are for, and also there weren't that many scalpers because the limited it to one signed per person. The crawling lag was thanks to at least maybe 1000 people 450 of which actually bought the litho to keep. I say that because I don't know how many were held back for replacements and only maybe 5-6 made it on ebay of which they obviously had no intention of keeping the litho.
This is bascially like saying that anything limited edition should not exist we should just get rid of all limited edition. Let's forget collector's editions too. Even how exclusive some cars are. I bet nobody outside of Car enthusiasts really cares how exclusive a certain car is.... I paid 275 for my Miranda litho that is way more than it sold for but hey. I wanted it, so I bought it and I love it. I am also not selling it ever. This is the price of supply and demand as all things in the world are.dasGleamer wrote...

But hey they should just start selling the lithos unsigned and forget limited edition ones even exist. On the plus side now the artist doesn't have to sign 800 lithos good save from hand cramps and an increase in the chances of arthiritis. Maybe we can get a price decrease to since they aren't signed.
