With enough fire resist runes and potions you should have no trouble.
You need to rush in and knock this guys health down before your stamina runs out, consider popping your speed buff (barrage?) then dropping out of berserk. You can go back in once he summons the waves of dragons. He will do this three times. First time is a bunch of dragonlings, second time adds a dragon third times adds two
Fire Resistance will make it so you don't have to keep moving your party so much which is a plus. But even without it the fireballs don't heat seek anymore so you can jus move a few feet every so often to avoid the attacks while taking care of the summons.
Bring cold damage weapons (bloom for a 2her for instance) and good luck!

I personally beat the High Dragon on nightmare so I might can help. Inspired party would be Anders,Isabela,Fenris. Make sure you have Anders as full time healer and you need at least 15 fifteen potions at disposal and all your copanions health is a check steady. Also when the High dragon can be attacked try to get one of your weaker and get the Dragon to focus on that companion while your stronger companions are attacking the High Dragon. Hope I helped a bit.

What part exactly are you having problems with?
Basically there's a few things to do for a warrior hawke in this fight besides the standard issue of equipping your party cold weapons (e.g. good cold staves and bloom and using cold spells) and using fire resistance runes.
Firstly you'll probably want to attack it from the side. It's a little hard to explain exactly but you should be able to see it in this vid: http://www.youtube.c...h?v=pzb9aL95Ryg
This allows you to avoid the front swipe and the back kick and stay clear of its flaming breath etc. This means that you shouldn't be getting too damaged while attacking it- and it's better to dodge its attacks damage-wise anyway, as it saves you getting knocked-back.
Secondly you have to watch out for your companions. THis is mainly in regards to the horde of dragonlings that descend on you. Don't get too far away from your more fragile party members otherwise they die and then all kinds of terrible things happen.
Finally, use the dog. It tanks like an utter machine. And the time it spends trying to hit or roast your immune little doggy is time you can be hacking away at it in relative safety.
If you tell us which part you're having problems with we might be able to give more specific advice. But Arelex's build is a pretty solid base to work from so you shouldn't have to change things too drastically.

I'm currently using the Blade of mercy 3/4 pieces of the Champion set About at 70-50% i lose my elven offense mage, then during the second- third mini dragon attack i lose Varric and/or anders and then it me and dog vs dragon, i either run out of potions or the dragons gets me in that lock grip that usually holds me until i'm dead.

Those builds are pure damage dealers, so to be effective you need to know what you're doing, i.e. evade/negate attacks.
As said - fire resist runes, cold attacks, sidestep as you attack from the side and when he's on the ledge keep moving - the fireballs aren't homing anymore as pre-patch, pretty easy to evade all damage and you can sort of kite the dragonlings then. And you may need to change tactics a bit for blood magic/heals/vengeance and such so that you improve your survivability. Also stocking on some advanced potions beforehand helps.

make sure you kite the high dragon with your tank.once the waves of dragonlings appear get as much aggro towards your tank as possible by using activated abilities and,if possible, taunt. let your ranged allies stay at the sides of the battlefield and have their backs towards the wall to avoid being surrounded and have them attack the dragonlings. when controlling your tank, don't bother attacking the high dragon.instead, kite it and let your allies unleash a barrage of attacks on it. if the high dragon turns its back on you, redirect its aggro towards your tank again.
don't forget to equip fire runes to reduce fire damage. also, be aware that the dog is immune to fire.so use that to your advantage.
hope this helped

You really don't need a tank. Tanks make fights slow and messy. From the sounds of it hawke is dying last anyway. So what you want is more damage such that you can protect your companions better, i.e. killing anything that gets near them. Dealing damage also draws threat so if you're smashing out the most dps in your party you shouldn't have a problem with the dragon chasing your companions.
I think you should do the awiergan scrolls side quest (the second one in particular).
All you need to do is pop over to sundermount, find a codex/scroll on the path towards the dalish camp, go up the mountain and kill an arcane horror and a few shades and then you're set- one of the best 2H weapons in the game which happens to deal cold damage.
Bloom will deal double damage against dragons making it much more superior to the blade of mercy- unless you've already used your primeval lyrium rune on it?
Anyhow, if you're still having problems maybe getting a mythal's favour potion could help. Just throw it on your dead companions and viola, your party is back in the game.
I quickly just browsed through Arelex's guide and both the pre-patch and post-patch tactics for anders and merrill aren't ideal for this fight. Because you really want them to have cold spells. Since you're a 2Her both you and Varric can make use of any resulting brittles anyway, so it's win-win.
Here's some companions builds/tactics you could consider respeccing them to for this fight (i just altered the tactics of Arelex and i'm not too sure how many ability points they have at level 20):
Anders
Self: Health <50% - Deactivate: Vengeance
Self: Health <25% - Use Potion
Self: Mana or stamina <10% - Use: Lyrium Potion
Hawke: Health <10% - Heal
Varric (or Sebastian/Isabela): Health <25% - Heal
Enemy: Elite or Higher - DISORIENTED - Stonefist
Self: At least one enemy is alive - Haste
Enemy: Elite or Higher - STAGGERED - Chain Lightning
Enemy: Elite or Higher - Winter's Grasp
Enemy: Elite or Higher - Petrify
Enemy: Clustered with at least 3 enemies - Chain Lightning
Self: Health >=50% - Activate - Vengeance
Self: Any - Activate: Heroic Aura
Self: Mana or stamina >=50% - Skip tactics
Self: Health >=75% - Martyr
Enemy: Using ranged attack - Attack
Basically, all anders should be doing is maintaining perma-haste, spamming cold spells/setting up brittle CCCs, healing people and maybe letting off a CCC whenever possible. If you have more ability points available consider either upgrading to get some tempest aoes happening or maybe upgrading heal. I also usually don't use rock armour but I play with a slightly riskier approach than most people.
Merrill
Self: Health <50% - Deactivate - Blood of the First
Self: Health <25% - Use Potion
Enemy: Target of Hawke - Use current condition for next tactic
Enemy: Target rank is Elite or higher - Hex of Torment
Anders: Hp <10% - Barrier
Varric: Hp <10% - Barrier
Self: Hp <10% - Barrier
Hawke: Hp <10% - Barrier
Enemy: Elite or Higher - DISORIENTED - Stonefist
Enemy: Elite or Higher - STAGGERED - Crushing Prison
Enemy: Elite or Higher - STAGGERED - Chain Lightning
Enemy: Elite or Higher - Winter's Grasp
Enemy: Elite or Higher - Petrify
Enemy: Clustered 3+ - Chain Lightning
Enemy: Clustered 4+ - Tempest
Enemy: Target between short and medium range - Tempest
Self: Health >=50% - Activate: Blood of the First
Self: Any - Activate: Rock Armor
Self: Any - Activate: Elemental Weapons
Self: Health >=50% - Skip tactics
Self: Mana or stamina <10% - Use: Lyrium Potion
Enemy: Using ranged attack - Attack
The basic idea here is that Merrill protects people just about to die (given them that vital time to either chug down a potion or get healed by anders), performs CCCs and deals cold damage/brittles.
Varric
Self: Health <10% - Use Potion
Self: Mana or stamina <10% - Use: Stamina Draught
Enemy: Elite or Higher - Brittle - Archer's Lance
Enemy: Clustered with at least three enemies - Fatiguing Fog
Enemy: Target of Hawke - Use current condition for next tactic
Enemy: Target rank is Elite or higher - Brand
Enemy: Target of Hawke - Use current condition for next tactic
Enemy: Target rank is Elite or higher - Disorienting Shot
Self: Being attacked by a melee attack - Rush
Self: Any - Activate: Speed
Self: Any - Activate: Bianca's Song
Enemy: Attacking Anders - Attack
Enemy: Using ranged attack - Attack
Unfortunately fatiguing fog or confusion couldn't be upgraded (in 20 points), but Varric basically provides brand, disorients, and does archer's lance CCCs (friendly fire on nightmare) and a generally high dps.
Anyway, if you follow similar builds (e.g. focusing on cold and CCCs) you should be able get through the dragon easily enough. Make sure your mages have cold staves. If you prefer, you could also consider upgrading their elemental tree for elemental mastery (for the +25% cold damage). Otherwise I think that theoretically this setup should work

I'm stuck on Beacon and Gifte Bosses are part three of that scroll quest they just kill me i get one down to 20% and the other down to about 3% before they get me but if they both target anyone but hawke with there zap abtility it means instant death

If you're careful you can lure one of the revenants away from the other, draw him all the way to the sundermount graveyard and fight him 4 vs 1. Once you're back at full health after that fight, go get the next one. This makes the battle much easier. There's a named walking corpse there as well. Generally when you're close enough to lure the walking corpse, wait a few seconds then run back, usually one of the revenants will follow as well. Since he's very slow and the corpse is not, you'll be able to kill it before t he revenant joins in.

This is kinda why I like the Reaver/Templar build more as the high str seemed to keep this guy off balance. When I fought him I don't think he got off any of his moves.
As for strategies, hold your party safe somewhere and charge in with your warrior just be sure to keep an eye on your party and move out o harms way. The tactics I've read about involve bringing a ranged party so plan accordingly. I hate the blue circles more than anything so as soon as you see them run! Check his weaknesses as it never hurts to bring elemental weapons!

Kill the shades first (aren't there only 2-3 actually at once?). Watch the ground for that circle thing so you cna move out of it before it paralyses you and watch out for when he charges. Plus the standard elements stuff.

I found what worked for me is to have aveline get fire resist glyphs in her armor/shield. That along with the arcane buff that gives 20% to defence and all resistances that i had anders learn made her basically immune to fire. This is on nightmare by the way. Have her taunt the dragon and sit out of its melee reach. That way it will only hit her with fireballs. I think you get the picture, main tank takes no damage. If aggro is ripped get her to taunt and so on and so forth.
Once she spawns adds I found it easiest to go on the hill closest to the gate the dragon closes off with fire. This is far away from the spawn point of the furthest adds and forces them to funnel making it perfects for AOEs. Have aveline tank away from the weaker members and have you damagers go to town.
I found that with the setup of varric, aveline, and anders, and doing the above the fight was a cake walk.

Beat it i'm good now, with that axe with cold damage and the two most powerful runes on it, anyways i'm going to replay Dragon age, as a rogue or a mage i'm not sure which and could someone link me to a good build to try if so.
