As for this specific suggestion, I also don't really see the point. Generally the skills with a same/similar effect are already available. The only thing remaining is weapons/armor change, but if you're on the PC we already have mods for that, too.

That would be unfair to console players.  Myself I play on PS3. No, it needs official support.

Because I found it interesting? If you choose blood magic, you can not play AW. If you choose AW, you can not play a blood mage. That has its charm for me and for Dragon Age 2 a replay value.

Fair enough... I mean, I wasn't trying to be rude, only asking a question and all that... I'm sure you realize that this class would be ridiculously OP if combined with Spirit Healer, since you would have powerful melee attacks, use whatever AW buffs you want, as well as use powerful healing magic.  Blood magic wouldn't give nearly as many benefits.  But whatever.  I was only curious as to why BM was excluded, and it's not like this is real, so it isn't even that important that I know the answer.

I did not let the subject sink totally.

Whether balanced or not, the "Arcane Warrior" is missing in "Dragon Age 2".

Let's be fair, it was pretty easy to be OP in DA:O with or without AW - although surprisingly that was interesting and fun - it was also a forgiving game overall so that fit well. OP isn't really so bad for single players, as long as sufficient difficulty and entertainment is still there to stop it ruining the game.

I'm not sure I'd want to see AW make it into MP games in the future - apart from anything else I think that mechanisms/items that allow in-game multiclassing (by any other name) need to have trade-offs and AW doesn't have.. any.

Really missed the Arcane Warrior from Origins. That and having all the arbitrary restrictions on what you could and couldn't wield. It just felt like DA2's class system started from scratch based on a model over a decade old.

Well, one of the reasons to bring up the AW here is to make the developers think about the idea and play with it. If they want to make it well balanced it's fine with me :o)

I would like to see Arcane Warrior back, but not only just simply rebalanced, I would like to see the spec completely redone. The AW was just someone who had a sword that they put away to use magic, so they were just a regular mage with a sword; the description certainly didn't match the execution.

I would like to see the AW use magic to augment their physical attacks, something like Stone Fist would make a good power for an AW, just that they actually turn their own fist to stone and just level people. Have them be able to snap freeze someone from striking them with their staff, have a fire attack that works like Cone of Cold, a focus on close range AoE's that doesn't have them just putting a sword away to just use standard mage attacks.

Arcane Warrior was borked and overpowered. Thankfully only the Warden knows it so I doubt it will come into use by anyone else.

I was just thinking that the lack of Arcane Warrior does seem a bit odd since DA2's mage animations have more of a Kung Fu vide than mage.

AW was one of my favorite on DA:O. I missed it in DA2. Who knows maybe they have been working on the AW for the next DLC or Expansion. Would be nice to see what they come up with. Was overpowered though but oh-so-fun to play.

Wynne and Morrigan learned it as well as Velanna and Anders in my game. It got around so it would explain it IF they really needed to justify its inclusion. For players who only had the warden learn it Bioware could dream up something or not. They don't have too.

If enough people enjoy it, it should be brought back and balanced. I took it so I didn't have to wear dresses/robes. I refuse to do that even in DA2. Just a pet peeve on mine.

Why are people complaining about something being over powered in a single player game makes no sense.AW being OP doesn't effect them in the slightest so let people have they're fun.

I liked Arcane Warriors on Origins too, though being able to solo the game easily without having to do anything out of the ordinary did "break" the game a bit. Arcane Warriors could do everything but pick locks, so there was no need for a party.

If you wanted to be a more durable spellcaster, or a warrior who could cast heal spells+crowd control, being an arcane warrior was fun because it made your warden flexible.

If Bioware wanted to balance arcane warriors a bit, simply take away the defensive buffs, like shimmering shield or limit what offensive spells they have access to, so you don't have this mega tank casting storm of the century everywhere.

While I enjoyed the spec in Origins, I've moved on. If it makes a return in the future, then good. I won't be losing any sleep if I'm forced to play as a character who actually has a use for companions for reasons other than picking locks.

I never understood the Arcane Warrior as a concept.

"I have all this magic at my disposal! I know! I'll use it to punch things."

I can see your point. Reavers use magic to enhance their physical power, but mages have such a obscene amount of spells to chose from that trading it all for pants and a sword never made much sense to me.

Anyway, Arcane Warrior was horribly broken in DA:O, so. :| I admire the work you put in the post, though, the tree looks neat.

The point of the Arcane Warrior is a battle mage. Most RPGs you build battle mages. Skyrim & Oblivion being the main 2. Its to combine melee & casting, but you're right it was broken in terms of being way too OP & also most of the spells didn't work with the melee. Bioware really needs to bring back some sort of battle mage or get rid of specs in general so you can build your own. Again i refer to Skyrim

No one from Bioware's creative departments reads any of these old games' forums. A few will be reading the DA-3 forum itself, however, until the first patch comes out for it.
