No forced deaths for me thanks. If they do that all 3 games might as well go in the bin as far as i'm concerned. Happy for certain choices to lead to an ending where shep/other characters die but not for a game which has prided itself on choices to give you none but certain death.

I'm fully against a sunshine and rainbows ending.

I think Bioware should make it impossible for both Shepard and his entire squad to make it through the game unscathed. Whether or not Shepard is among the dead by game's end, some people need to die. Otherwise it is hard to take the Reapers, and the story itself, seriously.

It's more than possible that Cerberus brought Shepard back with some Reaper tech. ME3 may not touch on this at all, but I can see Shepard dying in the end. Until you find out where Cerberus got the technology for the Lazarus project, I do not believe we can say whether or not Shepard should live or die.

I would prefer Shepard not dying, but his death would not invalidate the series. I will say, that Shepard dying at the start of ME2, really detached me from his character. I don't want to play a resurrected, or half cyborg type hero after I was a kick ass human. He's just not the same to me post Lazarus as pre Lazarus. But that's just my feeling.

Will he, or won't he die? Don't know, but I don't really care either way. If it turns out he was brought back with Reaper tech, then I think he should die.

He may die in one of the bad endings, where your bad decisions catch up with you. However, he must not die or suffer something bad if I have done everything right (yeah, I know many things are still in the grey such as rewriting the geth, saving the rachni etc.) unless there is a proper explanation to it that matches the lore.

I don't think they'll do a forced death. As many have said, that would ****** a lot of fans off.

Personally, if the forced death is warned about well in advance, I'm all for it. Jennifer Hale's recent comment about Shepard having a bit of a twist could possibly be that Shepard knows s/he is going to die from the beginning. A revelation that the Lazerus Project ultimately failed and Shepard only has so long to live. Yes, it's a bit of a rehash of Thane's story, but it wouldn't be a cop out(though I think some would disagree).

They said a super happy ending is possible, so I doubt it will be mandatory.

A possibility? For certain.

Lame.

ME3 should not have a butterflies and rainbows ending just because some fans have an inability to accept a little tragedy. If Bioware truly confirmed an ending where everyone lives, they've also confirmed poor story telling.

I wouldn't mind if he died.

As long as it's done well.

Mass Effect 3 having only 1 ending regardless of previous choices? Epic Fail imo.

There will most likely be endings where Shepard is killed, and some where he survives. It's most likely not going to be a mandatory death.

Since death isn't permanent in the ME milieu there should be an ending where Shepard dies and is then technomagically brought back to life for a happy ending

Shepard should buy the farm at the end but make it a choice of the player. If BW doesn't want a riot at the end it needs to be a good death, not a pointless one. Paragon = death as the sacrifice. Renegade = life at the expense of part of the team including the LI, but then dies of a heart attack when accepting the hero's medal at the end cutscene.

If there's a ME 4 it shouldn't have anything to do with Shepard.

Mission Impossible style if... possible.

I'd like to see a "career ending injuries, Shepard with prosthetic limbs, crippled" type of ending. Granted, it would make a whole lot of sense given the technology and what not, but I think they can probably reach a "happy medium" between flowers and rainbows and the apacolypse.

A Bittersweet ending would probably be the best course of action for ME3.

I want the super happy successful ending and I want the super sad failure ending. I would like an ending where the Reapers can succeed like where Shepard succumbs to indocrination(SP?). But I dont think it would be fair if such endings were obvious to see like if I go full Paragon I know ill get the happy ending or if i go full renegade I know ill get the failure ending.

Pretty sure the rainbows-and-candy ending isn't mandatory either.

It should be possible, right? Just like Nobody Left Behind.

Which made Harbinger and the Collectors look like a complete joke, not to mention made the "Suicide Mission" into a farce.

Well Gandalf didn't really die, right?

I'm talking about Shepard being thoroughly dead. And since rebuilding/ressurrection is completely within the realm of possibility, he should be stapled back together or grown back in a vat and then live happily ever after. It makes perfect sense since there are probably other researchers and medical facilities with the capability now. If Miranda could figure it out, you can be sure others have been working on it as well. Like a life sciences Manhattan project.
