I think that the Shepard=dead ending should be a choice.

i.e. Shepard and crew (form ME1 to ME2) are fighting a last stand and the only way to beat the Reapers is to kill Harbinger. The fleet is ready to do a orbital bombardment on Harbingers area but need a becon to tell the fleet were to hit. The Targeter that Shepard has is damaged, so someone must get close and call the fleet, but there's a 99.9% chance the person will be killed in the bombardment.

So Shepard (you) must choose who will do this. That's one kind of ending that should be put in.

Anyway that's my idea.

I actually agree with your central point that a few companions should die during the course of ME3 but that this should be dependent on the choices you make. Go to Surkesh early Mordin lives, go late he dies maybe. However i don't want the ending you state above. That ending would give only the choice of Shep either being a cowardly douche bag who sends someone else to die or taking the bullet yourself. Have to be selfish or a coward to live, no thanks!

Sorry. I was thinking of something else when I wote this. What I was trying to say is that basicly is that Shepard's death should be a choice.

Edit: I went for a "darker" ending were Shepard hates himslef for killing a firend.

Sheps death in ME2 was patheticly hilarious...I hope if Shep can dine in Me3, they do it better.
