This is just after the Trial by Combat.

I'm in the Sunken Flagon, and I was going through all my companions and rearranging gear etc. I had Grobnar in my party and went outside, came back in, and tried going out again. Instead of Elanee on the party select list, I saw Grobnar again. I put him in my party twice, thinking it was a small bug. Turns out the game just had Grobnar once in my party, no Elanee. I go inside, and now there's only one Grobnar and no Elanee.

I'm thinking I could probably just wait it out, get the keep, and then see if I can get her again, but if I can't, I'd probably break my computer or something due to not wanting to have to load so far back mixed with rage. Any other suggestions?

edit: NVM, found an answer here.

edit 2: Of course. I reloaded to during the trial, and Elanee is still unselectable. If anyone has a simpler fix than replacing the ROS file, I'd like to know it. Knowing my luck, my game would be rendered permanently unplayable since it's a Steam version.

edit 3: Good news everyone! I reverted back to my earliest save, which is just before the trial. I hightailed it back to the tavern, and to my eternal delight, Elanee was not selectable! I just love the thoroughness of Obsidian playtesters.

Unless anyone has a better idea, and I pray to everything that someone does, I might just reboot my computer to an hour before I posted this message. I have no idea if that will actually work, though.

I'm under the assumption that I need Elanee for at least one cutscene type thing in the game, and that the bug I think it is actually is the bug I'm trying to fix. So unless anyone can tell me otherwise on either of those two points (hopefully the latter), I'll go on with my plan. Please note Elanee is still actually in the tavern, unlike how the bug "normally" acts, which leads me to believe that I've encountered a completely different one. Also because she hasn't been in my party since Old Owl Well, and couldn't have summoned anything, and that I've had her selectable many times before now.

i wonder if she's just too p-o'd to join .. happened w/ my Dwarf once ..

I just waited it out, like suggested, but if problem is more complicated I'm willing to help. (there are a number of Roster scripts that run from the console)

proTip: downLoad Sal's Guestbook. Sal will open the PartySelect screen right from the bar ...

Wait, you can ****** people off enough not to join? Didn't know that. However, I don't think that's the case. When I was rearranging everything, Elanee was selectable until the double Grobnar incident.

Also, thanks for the tip. I could use a roster script for this, maybe that's the answer.

Khelgar used to become unselectable often.  Here was a simple solution:

I had the exact same problem with the English/U.S. version. It's not the version.
I pressed on through the Trial and he still didn't show on the list. He came to the Temple and offered to fight, but once everything was done, he remained sopping up the ale at the Tavern but not selectable on the list.
Fortunately, there is an answer - a workaround which is much better than "reinstall" which really is no answer at all.
DO NOT REINSTALL THE GAME.
Save the game. Exit to the desktop. Open the folder of your new savedgame and find the file ROSTER.rst. Open this file and make one quick edit. Under RosMembers Entry 7 you'll find Khelgar. Change his RosSelectable to 1 and save. Voila'.
I used LETO; I'm sure GFFEditor would work just as well. If you don't have them, go to http://nwvault.ign.com/.

p.s. kevL,

That Sal's Guestbook and the like can cause this issue.  If you remove a character who was forced into the party (such as Khelgar at Dwarven Scouts) before the game has noted that he's non-forced, he will remain unselectable.

Now maybe somebody can tell me something - on a google-cached link like the one above, how can I get the second page open?

I_

tried mussing & fussing to get pg. 2 - no luck, a search like this suggest the page dn't exist .. in the Google cache.

ps. I did some looking-into whether Sal's Guestbook could cause a conflict; since it's using the same function as the doorClick onExit from Flagon (with no special parameters), i'm thinking that if say Khelgar is marked unselectable this holds true either way. needs more playtesting to say for certain - Cheers tho

edit, ah, i see what you're saying .. it's possible

.. but unlikely: if PC can click Sal for his guestbook, he/she can click the door at the exit (in this case it's effectively the same)

... so Sal's Guestbook makes Sal a door to the Docks?

Also, where's the ROSTER.rst?

Roster.rst is in yer Savegame(s), under MyDocs->NwN2->Saves (or equivalent)

i haven't played around with .rst files; it looks like you'll need to use one of the appz I_Raps mentions, LETO or GFFEditor, to get inside the file. i should mention that appz made for NwN1 might truncate a 32-character string to 16-character (seems to me i ran into this once w/ GFFEditor) - unfortunately i forget which one ..

re. Sal & guestbook, Sal isn't a door as such. But the only significant difference between opening the PartyList via Sal and via the door, is that the door shunts the PC out the door on closing PartyList.

ergo Sal let's ya hang round inside the Flagon swapping equipment; what I_Raps mentions may become a problem if invoking the PartyList ' in the wild '

Since my version is Steam, I have different program files. I can't find a save folder in the NWN2 main folder, data, or campaigns, which are the three most likely places. I tried searching for "save" and the name of my save files.

Also I only have NWN2 + expansions. Probably irrelevant, but I've found that the more stuff I say the more clear my problem is.

It may be time for a "sticky" on where to find Steam files.

Maybe here:  \\Games\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\neverwinter nights 2

Or maybe this might help:  SteamForums

yeah, odd isn't it. neway ...

I'm not so sure the Steam files are much different; they're in different locations for sure.

If you don't know, there are two locations for NwN2 files: typically under ProgFiles & MyDocs (for XP). A search of all yer hard drives for "Neverwinter Nights 2" ought pull them both up. One is your main installation and generally shouldn't be touched. The other is your 'player folder' and can be deleted, hacked, modded, configured ... careful tho 'cause it contains the Saves folder, etc.

I tried searching for "save" and the name of my save files.

that's odd ..

`
DebugMode 1
rs ga_roster_selectable("elanee", 1)
DebugMode 0
`

- does what it says ( maybe ) We were recently having problems with .Ros files, it's possible things have flown south on that level
