I think they should give us an option to import a character from DA:O or DA2 or to start a new character as long as they give us the option.

to answer the the OP's question it has been said ad nauseum that NO he/she wont be, personally i wasnt all that enthusiatic about the character anyway and the DAO purists would find something to moan about if the warden was the PC, I'm in favour of the option for choice of 3 characters though mainly Warden/Hawke/New

I see the developers wanting to get the DA series back on the sales track that Origins started. Bringing back the Warden as either the main protagonist or as a clear, defining and playable supporting role will definitely do that.

While I hope they get back to DAO(or go even closer to NWN gameplay) I think it is unlikely. I remember reading an interview with DG(it is on the DAwiki, I'll try and link it) where he said they want to keep most of the changes from DA2

Big mistake.  DA3 won't bring the pre-orders like DA2 did because of Origins.  And the pre-orders were almost half of all sales for DA2.

I hope they understand their biggest mistakes on DA2, because it certainly wasn't reuse of dungeons that gave this game bad reviews.

The best thing for them to do would be to look at weekly sales charts.
DA2 did sell more than DAO in the first week, but in subsequent weeks, DAO beat it.

Also, DA2 is currently selling for less than DAO. Hell, NWN2 is currently more expensive than DA2.

They already said companions would be a mix of returning favorites and new ones.

They also said it would be a NEW Protagonist so why keep bringing this 10 month old thread up?

Because it would be awesome if I could continue the story of my character that I had invest over 120 hours with.  Hawk, not so much, only about 20 some hours.  DA2  was a really short game.   I'm actually hoping that DAIII will be the true DAII.

we'd be lucky if only the Warden's Murderknife made an appearance.

Where did they say old favorites would be returning? ... I must have missed that somewhere.
So I guess this means we'll be seeing a lot more of Morrigan, Leliana, and Isabela. Bugger. No more Zevran or Sten. And if they're doing a popularity vote, then Fenris is definitely out.

Oh, the excitment.

He should have been the main character of the entire series. I say bring him back to clean up the mess Hawke started. It took Hawke 10 years to screw up the world. The Warden would have resolved the trouble in 1 year and united the groups fighting each other at the same time.

Are people forgetting that the Warden can die in Dragon Age Origins in epic way?

Well the majority of players choose the option to sleep with Morrigan and live. But I see your point. While I'd enjoy playing as my Warden again more than anything it wouldn't make sense if they just retconed that fact that some Wardens died

The only way Bioware can win back its fans of the original series is to allow them to continue with their Warden and play out all those eluded to future stories at the end of Origins.

I wasn't on this forum at the time it was announced that DA2 would have a new protagonist, but I read the older posts and this forum was in a rage at the news.

EA's marketing might disagree with me, but a lot of fans did drop Dragon Age for that reason.  You're continuing with the DA world and with the same characters, why do I as the hero have to sit out?  Nothing worse than watching all your friends continuing to go to the high school dances but you have to stay home.Image IPB

Well, we know the warden won't be back as a protagonist in DA3, but I definitely won't mind if a DLC for DA3 would be a side story about the warden, with you controlling him/her, somewhat like Leliana's song for origins - you controlling the warden and having a bit of an adventure, maybe on a scale somewhat smaller than awakenings but larger than the other standalone origins DLCs.

SOME of its fans, not everyone who was put off by Dragon age 2 was put off because of not being to play the Warden,  there are lots of different things that people disliked about the new game. And while I know there were ones who were, not all of the fans of the original series were put off in the first place.

I know that personally, while I didn't enjoy DA2 quite as much as DA:O, it wasn't because I wasn't playing the Warden. I've know idea where I stand in the majority as these boards don't reflect the whole fanbase, many of which don't post on these forums, but I doubt that I'm so unique a person as to be the only one in existence.

I'm ok with having a new protagonist each game, I'm also ok with revisting a protagonist as long as it makes sense, but I wouldn't want the whole series to be about a single protagonist ala Mass Effect (Which had one big plot arc, whereas Dragon age has different ones).

Just watching some of the interviews added as bonus on Dawn of the Seeker and I got the impression that Bioware is going gung ho on the mage x templar x seeker x chantry conflict and completely pushing Wardens under the carpet.

Interesting move from their part. Because DAO and Awakenings barely paid attention to the mage x templar conflict and was warden centric. DA2 and DotS only have the wardens as a little cameo. Actually DotS has no Warden and you do battle an ogre but no one comments it is a darkspawn, not a demon. Is like they are like Loghain and the poeple of Thedas pre Ferelden Blight  :P Darkspawn ? Wardens ? Old news!

I don't know how I feel about this. I really like Hawke and I love my Elf Warden. I groomed his story as I was planning it out to be. I was expecting to be able to play as him again. So..... I will just wait and see.

I would love to have my Dalish Warden return but I already know that they said new protagonist for DA3. I at least want to know wtf happened to him and where he disappeared to.
