Do you think the Warden will be the main character for Dragon age 3?

I don't mind not having the Warden (but i want to see the Warden again), but i definitely want a Silent Protagonist. If DA3 has a voiced PC, I will be extremely dissapointed.
at one point (i honestly can't remember when),Mr. Laidlaw said that they wouldn't be going back to Silent protagonist.

As much as I love both my warden and Hawke, I'm glad to hear it will likely be a new protagonist. Not that I ever thought that wasn't going to be the case really. Creating new characters and getting attached to them is my favorite part about RPGs, so I'm all up for making a new character in DA3.
I do want more DLC with Hawke though.

Absolutely. Hawke's tale isn't finished.

And for a new protagonist, well that is a good option IMO. Though I wish to see the DA2 companions again, but new companions would be bad at all.
I don't care if DA3 takes 3-5 years to make. if that what it takes to make this game a great game, then I'll wait for that day and say it was totally worth the wait when I'm playing it.

Not happening. That would be a logistical and financial nightmare.TexasToast712 wrote...
They recorded 2 different voice actors for Shepard. All we need is 3 more for DA3 and we can have a voiced Warden. One for the Human origin, 1 for both the Dalish and City Elf origin, and 1 for both the Commoner and Noble Dwarf origin, and 1 female VA for any female origin, one who can do both a general American accent for the Dwarfs/Elfs and a British accent for Fereldens.
As long as Bioware is enamoured of their VA, the Warden won't come back.

Since I'm in a sharing mood, I will put this out there: our intention is that for each major release of Dragon Age, you will take up the mantle of a new character. This does not mean your old character may never appear in future games, but as far as the core protagonist goes, if there is a DA III, it will very likely be neither Hawke nor The Warden.
We want to keep the series about the time and place, rather than about any singular character. While I know not everyone prefers that approach, I believe it's perfectly valid, especially if certain plans of ours to shore up world consistency (import bugs really bother me!) come to fruition, which I believe they will.
And that's all I can say about that.
Praise the Maker for this news.
Im really happy about that

I love my Hawkes, and I also love my Wardens. However this just makes me even more excited to see what they have in store for us with DA3.
Incidentally I still want to see the Warden reintroduced as a 'customisable companion/cameo'. I think the mirror in the Black Emporium and many fans desire for something similar in ME shows to some degree that players can accept facing a character customisation screen after the game starts and, for me, it all but completely solves the problem with the Warden's appearance. Sure we may not be able to import them properly, but even if we had to build them from scratch I reckon we would be able to get close enough to the Warden we are recreating to be happy. And hey, it would be better than nothing!
No idea how they would handle the personality/voiced part of the character though, at least not without upsetting some people.

Boulton seems to have worked fine for Bioware. He may probably end up like Meer, appearing everywhere doing one-scene-wonder characters.ipgd wrote...

doesn't mean they won't ever add in the option of a voice toggle and animation toggle

They won't. Apart from potentially ruining their cinematics that require voiced PC input (or deliberately designing the cinematics so the PC does not participate so as to not jar with players with voice disabled, which is like, half the reason they decided to use the voiced PC in the first place), it would reduce the value of their INVEESSTTMMEEEENNNTTThe Ethereal Writer Redux wrote...

well then that leaves a few other options that they could do one of:
- voice slider where you can adjust the sound of the voice, though I don't know how well that'd work for the Dalish elves
- multiple voices per character
- different voices for each race.

Social class aside, there's little reason why a City Elf, Surface Dwarf, or Human from the same place couldn't or shouldn't sound the same.
Then you could have a Rashomon-style "origin" for each of them, which covers the same event in the same place from different perspectives.
Bam. Voiced protagonist, racial options, and origins.

The only "solution" I've thought of that makes any sense at all is de-linking accents and race, because that didn't make much sense anyway, and tie it to a location.

They don’t really need accents for city elves and exiled dwarves, like Varric. So that could work.

I'm hoping this wont turn into a final-fantasy esque situation, new character every single installment. That's way overdone already. It's even worse; when in a game like this, you form an attachment to 'your character'. I personally do not like the idea of jumping from protogonist to protagonist, in this series. At the very least, I expect proper closure for hawke.
As for import bugs, please fix the remaining ones in DA2.
