 Hi folks!

I've not been on the boards for a while. Hope everyone is well.

I'm currently on my nth playthrough of BG2 and am trudging through the black hole that is Chapter 2. The situation is: Two characters - Jan & Anomen - don't fit into my 'grand scheme', but for old-times-sake, I would like to complete each of their personal quests.

Is it possible to use console commands to force the messengers that start each character's questlines, to appear? I'd simply like to hurry things along as I would like to replace the pair of them soon. The completionist in me wont let me discard either until I've seen their little stories through, but my patience is wearing thin :P

Cheers in advance!

G

Edit: Just to clarify - I know Anomen's 'test' is level specific. I'm interested in the messenger that starts the quest that requires him to see his father.

Actually, you don't need a console command to trigger Anomen's quest and it really isn't level-specific. I've done it any number of times the following way:
When you first arrive at the Copper Coronet, take him into your party and then fire him immediately (tell him to wait at the Copper Coronet, not just "right here" even though they seem to be the same). Then, five game days later, take him into your party again and walk outside. The messenger will appear about his sister's death. Go the government district and complete that part of the quest (less time-consuming to just let him pass the test). When you've seen the government official, fire him again, telling him to wait at the Copper Coronet. Five days later, hire him again, walk outside, and the messenger from the Order will appear. Once his test is done, you can then fire him for good.

I don't think Jan's quest will work this way, although I haven't specifically tried it. I tried Mazzy's once and it reset the timer every time she left the party. I suppose you could reset the global variable that tells the game when the time period is up, but someone else will need to supply that.

Using Infinity Explorer, Jan2 dialog script looks interesting. Slums are AR0400, relevant script shows nothing relevant here.

Just rest at an inn for a week after you get them (but make sure no other NPC quests are running, because they are all on timers), and their personal quests will kick in. You'll probably need to leave the inn and head out into the city before the trigger NPC shows up.

Cheers for the replies. Still haven't had Jan's quest start yet and he's been in the party for more than a couple of weeks, game time. I fear I may have to make do without; I've only got the Umar Hills left to do before ditching him and moving onto chapter 3. Never mind eh!
