The general direction I was planning on was to split points between DEX and STR initially.  Once I get DW Mastery and Starfang, I was intending to dual wield Starfang (longsword) and a good axe.  Since I won't be pumping DEX exclusively as you would going with two daggers, I'll be wearing light armor and relying on Alistair to draw aggro.

Anything I should be aware of, or things that I should avoid?  Is DW two main hand weapons a viable strategy anyway?

Warriors can make fairly good Main Hand DW'ers as long as you spam talents and don't auto-attack as much (so pump a little into willpower or get some stamina enhancers).

I would, however, recommend you grab items that boost your chance to dodge attacks (Both ranged and melee) and that you keep momentum up at all times (and later get spirit warrior in awakening). Also grab as much elemental protection as you can (at least 50-60% per element if you can manage it). You're purpose as a DW Warrior will be to kill fast, efficiently, and pray you don't get targetted.

Ill be honest, Warrior are better with Daggers and Pumping Dex, while Rogues are better with larger weapons and pumping Str/Cun.

Warriors who wield larger duel weapons are at a disadvantage in the damage and survivability departments. Duel-Wield has no defense sustainable like S&S or Two-hand does to make you immune to crowd control effects. Also your weapon attack slow nessessatating the need to constantly spam your talents. But due to warriors generaly higher fatigues and low stamina this is a problem. This is just how the game mechanics work.

Dagger Dex Warriors attack fast, and have very high Defense values(Chance to be hit) so they can just avoid most blows(Matter of fact its pretty easy to become essentialy unhitable with this build). Due to their attack speed they dont need to spam abilities nearly as much. (Particularly if they have added damage per strike from other effects)
As a matter of fact if you do Reaver/Templar you can Tank, deal Damage and get 100% Spell immune and a super high nearly unhitable defense score with this build ive created for the community.

In the end its your choice of course but im just letting you know how it is from the mechanics aspect of it. Duel Large Weapon Warriors have survival problems and are inefficient.

You may want to also consider a pure str two-hander warrior or a 26 Dex all other points str weapon and shield warrior.

Dual wielding warriors tend to be more about abilities than auto attacking in my opinion; using dual daggers really reduces your aoe damage from whirlwind, dual-weapon sweep and low blow due to reduced range. In my dual wielder, I got 36 dexterity, which basically means you'll have 95%+hit ratios, and gives you some defence, then pumped strength. Survivability isn't a problem, just get some decent gear (Lifegiver, Ring of Ages, Key to the City, Spellward) or swap out Spellward for High Regard of House Dace for more dps if you like. Wear any top-tier massive armour (Wade's Superior Dragonbone plate, Warden Commander, Cailan's,) or the heavy version of Wade's armour with Evon the Great's mail swapped for the chestplate. Survivability shouldn't be an issue.

For weapons, you'll want Starfang/Keening Blade and the Veshialle, since axes get the highest strength modifier, and you'll have a very high strength. With momentum on, you can auto attack your way through the game easily (especially if you activate Perfect Striking+haste to get the absolute maximum attack speed modifier). Thats something you have to consider- one of the advantages of dual daggers over full size is that they attack faster, but with momentum up permanently (and why wouldn't you?) plus the afore-mentioned combo, you can hit the weapon speed limit with full size weapons, meaning you WILL out dps a dual dagger warrior purely from auto attacks whilst haste is up - once it drops off, they get a slight advantage again, but thats not even really the point. The aim is to put out massive dps with your talents - aoe with Dual weapon sweep and Whirlwhind, and critting with riposte/cripple. Save punisher for the lietenants/bosses, that talent is godly.

Plus you look like a badass.

Daggers are auto-attack, Large Weapons are Talent Spam.  Thats just how it works :P
Idealy for Weapons you want Duel Veshialle Axes (Possible to get even without exploits)

Though I do not want to get into the dagger damage debate DuskWarden so dont bait me
Duel Daggers Warrior does the highest regular damage in the entire game (Particularly Awakening)
