DA2 was playing fine for me (for the most part, no playing glitches), until I downloaded all of the DLC stuff and installed in onto my comp today. Then once I started a new game or went anywhere outside of the city limits of Kirkwall, the lag time between mouse and cursor movement was like I was trying to run too much game on too slow of a system. I also will mention that I downloaded the latest patch for Legacy today as well.

Is there anyone else that has run into this problem? I'm going to be getting a new computer (same make and model with all the specs of this one (quality control issue with the company and they're covering their butts), but I have been enjoying playing DA:O and Awakenings on a system that can finally handle the high graphics and fast paced movement.

Heck, at first I didn't think that I'd like the new fast-paced fighting style that DA2 has, but I think it makes a nice change of pace as well as the other changes. So if anyone else is experiences lag time and jerky movements whenever they're outside of the city, could you please share what you did to correct the problem? I would be ever so grateful!

Thanks a bunch!

~Kal

(I did do a search in the forums, but nothing quite fit my problem so hence why I started a new Topic. If there's already an answer for this somewhere, please direct me to it and I'll gladly delete my post! Thanks again! ~K)

I currently have all settings maxed out (except high vs very high graphics). When the game first came out I ran it on the same settings without a hitch. Then after patches, dlc, or driver updates, I had to turn my settings down in order to play without lag and poor fps. I finally went into my graphics card control panel and toggled a few options. After adjusting these settings, I can play the game flawlessly and beautifully again. Here's a few screen caps of the settings that worked for me.

I can't guarantee this will work for you, but you ccan always revert your settings.  I've found with pc gaming, more often than not, you've got to tinker.

Thanks for the tips. It just cracked me up that it was running beautifully before and then all of a sudden and ONLY in certain areas it decided to get all lagged out on me. But such is the fun of gaming on a PC.

One thing I did find out while tinkering around is that for some reason, my comp defaults to the normal HD video card instead of my NVIDIA GeForce one automatically. I had to go in and manually change it. I'll give things a shot and see what happens...

Thanks again.

I've found that DX11 bloom and Depth of Field settings have been causing the same for me (GTS240 with 280.19 beta drivers). Turned them off and it ran perfectly.

After going through changing just about all of my settings and uninstalling and reinstalling the game, it turns out the thing I DIDN'T do was what needed to be done. I just had to change the video setting from Very High to High. I'm not sure why it worked fine before all of my additional DLC, but apparently, that seemed to solve the problem.

TY to those who replied to my issue. :-)

Well I'm glad it's working for you finally, it's about time.
