What's to be made of them in ME3?

Wild man guessing: They are the original creators of the Reapers, who were eventually defeated and subdued by them.

From World of Warcraft I think.

About the beings of light:
They can be anything or that volus guy might be crazy or this crypt might have real impact in ME3 or BW might have totally forgot about this. Well just have to wait and see.

Anybody else find it curious that you find a Matriarch's Writing on this planet, and completing the Matriarch's Writing quest is supposed to have a profound impact on ME3?

Crazy Volus is crazy. Hopefully. I'm tired of seeing some omni-potent beings made of light in Sci-Fi settings....

When it said 'beings of light' I automatically though maybe a VI or AI program. Maybe a species who had some survivors besides the protheans, or they left behind a VI like vigil. When you scan the planets in ME1 there are plenty of worlds with very creepy descriptions. Like the one with the Gas giant with the thousand of huge structures detected under the surface, but as soon as the probe approached they vanished and were never detected again. Maybe there are alot of survivors who just don't wanna be found

There is something to this I believe and as has been said there are planets in ME1 that have "unknowable" things on them or in them and I don't think they where put there just for kicks.

Beings of light from the distant past created to protect the organic races from "machine devils"

Coincidences! I dont think so.

Klencory..keep an eye out for that planets name in any info on ME3

Kledagon and it's great drift was in ME1 and than it was used as a plot point in the Derelict Reaper Mission in Mass Effect 2. So maybe Klencory will have an impact to. Also does anyone remember Ploba? It was described a Jupiter Brain, a planet sized super computer. That could have some impact too.

Either that Volus is crazy, or it's a Deus ex Machina to help us kill the Reapers.

Woah, that's some spooky-ass ****.

However, I doubt this because there are supposed to be multiple ways to destroy the Reapers. And why would they just throw out the key to stop the Reapers randomly?

Perhaps this may have something to do with "Investigate Rumors' in the Ninmah system or whatever, though.

We'll go through yet another relay (the mu relay in me1, omega 4 in me2...see the pattern here) and go to some remote/unknown/dangerous place (a la Illos in me1 or the center of the galaxy in me2) and meet up with the beings of light, help them with their 'issues' and get an uber weapon to defeat the reapers all the while harassed and chased by cerebus who wants the super weapon to perpetuate humanity's rise as the super power in the galaxy.

True, even if it's a random ass reference on an unimportant planet and a short text message.

Do you have a source to support this 'fact' that the writing quest will have an impact in ME3, or is that mere speculation masquarading as 'fact' around here.

They're gonna need one hell of a crane to bring those things in at the last minute.

I would also like to know.. As I didn't find all the writings.. If it does impact the story in such a way, I might have to make another playthrough.. so.. source of your "fact" please???

If i recall correctly there was some announcement about being able to choose what happened during ME1/2 in ME3, and one of them was the choice to have seen the writings or not.

If there's an option for that, it means it will have an impact in ME3. Just not sure how much of an impact.

Looking for the link now
