If i recall correctly there was some announcement about being able to choose what happened during ME1/2 in ME3, and one of them was the choice to have seen the writings or not.

If there's an option for that, it means it will have an impact in ME3. Just not sure how much of an impact.

Looking for the link now

There's supposed to an interactive ''comic'' if you start with a new Shep, much like Genesis.  If they allow newbs to get all the writings, turian insiginias, salarian 'league of one' stuff and it impacts the game big time that would be a slap in the face to anyone who played me1, in my opinion.  It cheapens the whole achievement.  Again, no link = speculation.

They're gonna need one hell of a crane to bring those things in at the last minute.

I do not think many here will get that reference.

Anybody else find it curious that you find a Matriarch's Writing on this planet, and completing the Matriarch's Writing quest is supposed to have a profound impact on ME3?

Do you have a source to support this 'fact' that the writing quest will have an impact in ME3, or is that mere speculation masquarading as 'fact' around here.

One of the devs hinted on Twitter month or two back that the Matriarch's writings might have an impact in ME3.  At least that's what it seemed like. You can find it somewhere in the Twitter thread (somewhere between pgs 60 and 90 i think), I'm not going to find it for you because I'm lazy:P.  However, the same dev tweeted later, "It is entirely possible that I was joking about the Matriarch's writings." (something like that)  People were flipping out on that thread before he said he could be joking, it was quite humorous.

Edit 1:  OK, OK, fine!  I will look  up your darn source!  *searchingsearchingsearchingsearchingsearching.............20 minutes later*  Found it! Link

Edit 2: And here's his second tweet about the writings. Link

Do you guys really think some description of a planet that 90% of players didn't read, will have a big impact on Mass Effect 3? Really?

It would be a Chekhov's gun,but be written off by the non-readers as Deus Ex Machina.

In all probability it's just some eccentric volus' insane ramblings. I will smile wryly to myself if, in ME3, Shepard chases down some long-lost technology buried by said "beings of light" in order to stop the Reapers, however.

Thanks for the links, I appreciate it :)

I like the way he's totally screwing with forumites heads over it though LOL

I think if anything comes of it it'll be minor, like an extra line of dialogue or some such.

I only did it with my canon Shepard with aide from Wiki.

No way would I go through all that again - almost as bad as scanning in 2.

LOL

Klendragon was a minor blurb in ME1, and then they placed the derelict Reaper in orbit around it in ME2.  Not everyone read the blurb about Klendragon (spelling?) either so I wouldn't completely dismiss it.  Will it be earth shattering game breaking stuff? Probably not, but it could be foreshadowing of ME3 events.

Excuse me if this has already been mentioned, but isn't it possible that the "Beings of Light" are actually the Hanar? Afterall, if anyone in the Mass Effect universe is a being of light, it would be the ones who use bioluminescence to talk. They are still very much a mystery in the Mass Effect games and universe, and who knows if the Enkindlers are actually more than just the Protheans? It wouldn't surprise me one bit if getting the Hanar involved is instrumental in saving the galaxy from the Reapers.

I have a pet theory that the Enkindlers, aka, the Protheans, might be the beings of light. UFOing up all the primative species they could find, prepping the next culling victims for the inevitable fight with the Reapers. Of course this means that more than just the Ilos team survived, or that the Ilos team was very resourceful. Maybe the Protheans had fish in the lake. Who knows. I don't have any proof, just a gut feeling.
