If you go to the Gallows during the day in Act 1, then go to the westernmost little nook where the Herbalist's Task guy usually stands alongside the mage equipment merchant, afterwards go directly north up the little stairs to the big bars that lead into assumedly the mage circle:happy:

If you stand close to them you can hear what sounds like a burly man horribly whipping another person and the person being whipped is screaming in anguish each time you hear the whip connect:crying:

I've never found this before so I thought I'd share!

This along with mages being forcibly made tranquil to be used as templar sex slaves, man BioWare sure went out of their way to ensure both the templar and mage factions are utter douchebags in this game!:pinched::lol:

Must look next playthrough...not sure which act it is but one of your tasks involve taking out some templars that are terrorising an woman for harbouring an apostate. The apostate was a relative which she said had been whipped (beaten) and starved...Is a pity someone like Thrask or Emeric hadn't been in charge the mages may have had a better life, but then the city wouldn't have fallen apart Image IPB

Once gain Rifneno you confirm that me siding with the Mages was right choice... A-bom's be damned.. Whipping a mage for talking to someone. What is wrong with Templars in Kirkwall, whats like roaches if there is one templar like that in one City bond to plenty more.

What is wrong with the Templars in Kirkwall? Two things (at least): the propaganda of fear, and the ego of power. A terrible combination.

So now I need to run to the Gallows and keep a close eye/ear out.

The only difference between the mages and the Templars is that the mages get to use possession as an excuse for becoming demons.

@nitefyre410 - Yeah, I know. Such a loaded question, rhetorical or otherwise. :)

@ishmaeltheforsaken - Indeed. None are infallible.

Another interesting thing, but not mage-templar related... in Hightown, in the area where is the mansion of Emile's parents, there is a tunnel that is invisible in the map. It may just be a bug, though. There's a chest in the end of the tunnel, but it's just trash and a random weak weapon.

I've noticed that. Even the batsh*t crazy mages I've run into seem to have some reasoning for their insane destructive behavior. Yet in act 1 alone, I've seen far worse behavior from mundanes than I have mages. Crazy mages might attack me. But that doesn't make my stomach turn like all the perverts, pedophiles, sociopaths, slavers, ect I've seen amongst the "normal" population.

@Skadi_the_Evil_Elf - that just goes to show that the mortal soul is capable of such grand opposing forces - wonderous love and some incredible darkness. Just a grand dichotomy. It doesn't take magic to be on one side of the spectrum or the other.

You know the  entire  Kirkwall seems to have the Marvel Universe normal person syndrome.   X-men trying to live peaceful in  San  Fransico... "NOOO KILLL WITH FIRE" mean while... Norman Osborne is running for  US Senate... "Oh thats no problem..."

Now  Kirkwall

Mage talking to  Civi  - They get the lashes    mean   while, pedophiles, etc going about. " Oh just a normal day in Kirkwall   those  Slavers are great guys ya know."

Slavers are among the worst.  Of course, those bastards usually have to go off and bring a mage with them.  Really complicates the part where I kill them all...

It's kind of like Anders told Fenris.

One need not be an abomination to be a monster.

You were just overhearing a bit of naughty roleplay between Meredith and Orsinio. Later on they played 'Hide the Apostate.'

They like to play "Smite the abomination" and "The Templar Recruit and the Desire Demon." Meredith plays the desire demon, that minx.

The veil around Kirkwall is thin; the Circle Tower shouldn't be in the city much less in a former prison.
