I thought it was canon that Catwoman was a hooker. Or am I muddling up the continuities?

If that picture was given without telling me what it showed, I would never have guessed "cat woman". An odd choise, if that's what they're going with.

I think that's my issue with it; there's nothing that signifies 'cat woman' there. If anything, she looks closer to Trinity from the Matrix, with long hair.

Lol, touche. I think you may be right about that. I was hoping she'd be reinvented in this movie. Maybe she will. I hope we're looking at an early version of her suit and it gets modified as the movie progresses.

I have seen plenty of hookers. Both hundred and ten dollar kind. She doesn't look like either.

I think it's too soon to judge with only one picture, and without knowing the context of the scene it is from.

I think people who get upset from one image without seeing more images are likely over-reacting.

Yes, I would like to see her with the "ears & goggles" like in the comics, but who knows why she isn't wearing them in these images? Maybe she removed them so they don't blow off while she's on the bike? Maybe Bane stole them? Or maybe they're left at Batman's place?

I love internet fans, because I am one myself, but there is nothing like them for jumping to uninformed reactions.

May not be "traditional" Catwoman, but I don't really see how she looks like a hooker.

A hooker? For what they charge you to go to a 3D film these days they should include one.

The only problem I can see from that shot is the lack of mask.

Because she is fully clothed and not in a skimpy outfit with her assets hanging out, I'm going to have to disagree.

I think you've got your hookers mixed up.

Its a bit crap of an image to try and judge her whole outfit.

It looks like she's in Catwoman-esque tight suit which is fine. Its the goofy goggles that look pretty terrible. I'd just hope they have something covering up her face a bit more. The goggles they have on her there just look horribly clunky and I don't care for it when bits of costime cover up the eyes completely since you can tell a lot from one's eyes.

Originally, no, she was not a prostitute. She was introduced in 1940 in Batman #1.
For the #1 issue of Catwoman she was but that was a revision made in 1986.

Catwoman, then called "the Cat", first appeared in Batman #1 (1940) as a mysterious burglar and jewel thief, revealed at the end of the story to be a young, attractive woman (unnamed in the first story), having disguised herself as an old woman during the story and been hired to commit a robbery. Although the story does not have her wearing her iconic cat-suit, it establishes her core personality as a femme fatale who both antagonizes and attracts Batman. It is implied Batman may have deliberately let her get away, by blocking Robin as he tried to leap after her. She next appears in Batman #2 in a story also involving the Joker, during which she wears a fur mask and again succeeds in escaping Batman.

Catwoman's origin—and, to an extent, her character—was revised in 1986 when writer Frank Miller and artist David Mazzucchelli published Batman: Year One, a revision of Batman's origin. She works as a prostitute in order to survive and wants to break away from her abusive pimp (and former boyfriend). She witnesses his crimes and, because of an event that occurs to her sister, fears for her sister's life and begins to study self-defense and martial arts. Her teacher inspires Selina to become more than what she has been and she realizes that prostitution is no life for her, or for "Holly".

Holly Robinson is a young runaway who idolizes Selina, but is much too young to be on the streets as far as Selina is concerned. Selina shares her home with Holly after she takes her in. As the story progresses Selina is led to a bit of burglary, she dons a catsuit costume that her now former pimp gave to her the day that she told him she was out of the business. After costuming herself so as not to be revealed, she gets a taste for burglary and begins to do it in more of a Robin Hood way than an actual thief. This is, however, how she runs into Batman. After a small confrontation, she begins to be inspired to stay in her costume and become the "Catwoman" after seeing Batman in action with others. Selina gets the idea that, if there is a "bat", why can there not be a "cat"?

The 1989 Catwoman limited series, written by Mindy Newell and with art by J.J. Birch, expanded upon Miller's Year One origin. This storyline, known as "Her Sister's Keeper", explores Selina's early life as a prostitute and the start of her career as Catwoman. The story culminates with Selina's former pimp, Stan, abducting and violently abusing her sister Maggie, who, in contrast to Selina, is a nun. Selina kills Stan to save her sister, and gets away with it. Most of this is revealed in the former series, but is expanded upon in "Her Sister's Keeper".

I'm guessing that's her in her pre Catwoman high end thief outfit. Here is the what I think happened to lead up to that still. She brakes in to a museum to steal some Cat trinket, Batman shows up on his Bat pod to stop her (Their first meeting) They get in to a little fight and she steals the Bat Pod and gets away.

It's not the iconic Catwoman people were anticipating. Okay the question to ask is will Hathaway be playing Selina Kyle or will she be playing ' The Catwoman'? I know they're the same, but perhaps in Nolan's interpretation Selina Kyle is just a regular cat burglar without an alter ego.

No mask, no ears, no protective padding. Cherry red lipstick. Hair flowing in the wind as she rides Batman's vehicle. I understand she's a sex symbol and all, but with Nolan's adherence to realism, I thought she'd have a more practical look.

I'm not pleased.

1. She has a mask. It's a practical one.
2. Ears are impractical. (That means Batman's are too.)
3. Who says she has no padding? You can't even see her suit.
4. What's wrong with her borrowing the Bat pod?

EDIT: Also, I already posted this in the DC Marvel Comics thread.

So, judging by the three images I've seen of Catwoman on the Batpod (and clearly in the City Hall fight scene), I'm going to assume she is an intern for Batman (no, srsly) who starts calling herself "Catwoman". I mean, even in the comics, they initially confused her for Batman's assistant.

more pics:

http://spinoff.comic...ight-rises-set/

boots and gloves are too long for my liking, but fine enough. the suit itself looks good of course, but that was a given.

however, I can deal with the humongous eye-wear, but I find her lack of cat-ears disturbing.

Joker gets make-up, Scarecrow gets a sack-mask, Two-Face gets a functional acid-flayed half-face and most importantly Batman gets bat-ears, but Catwoman doesn't get cat-ears!? WTF? If so, not cool, bro.

I sure hope it's a pre-Catwoman or rather a post-unmasked shot of Selina.

And any continuity that ignores Miller's couldn't-be-bothered-to-look-it-up hooker retcon is a good continuity.

Without high-heels and boob window, it'd be nigh perfect, yes. But I got used to almost all the males (Bats, Gordon, thugs, guards) being on 'roids rather quickly in AA, so I don't expect it to bother me all that much in AC.

It is possible that the character (Cat Woman) will progress through out the course of the movie. Whats being done here is we are all looking at a handful of pictures and judging that alone. I think most of us can agree that Nolan has a way of building characters and plots (along with counter parts David S. Goyer and Jonathan Nolan) to were appearance is just an extra.

The point is just judging the suit alone is a bad idea because I have confidence that Nolan could put Batman in the gray and blue Adam West suit and still make the film a masterpiece. The best way to watch a Christopher Nolan film is to have as little information about it as possible, then you will certainly have your mind blown and the lack of a comic book style character in a practical real world superhero flick will not even cross your blown mind.

Interesting, well I'll wait and see. I won't judge a character, based on her outfit. I'd rather judge, when I'll see her in action.
