On the one hand, they may be basing the whole multiplayer thing on the same rumours we keep discussing on this forum. Xbox World 360 is a bit like IGN when it comes to facts.

On the other hand, if it is true then shouldn't we give Bioware the benefit of the doubt? They aren't going to sabotage a franchise as successful as Mass Effect - not only have they invested a lot of years in this universe, but it also has the potential to make them a lot of money. They would only add multiplayer if they felt it complimented the game - otherwise they risk losing their established fans and alienating new ones.

There is a chance that Bioware has done something genuinely original with multiplayer. Assassin's Creed, for example, managed to have a multiplayer style very much in keeping with what Assassin's Creed is. If this does turn out to be true, we should at least give Bioware the benefit of the doubt.


Then again, this is BSN so let the outrage begin.

I think it depends. 

If it's being made by an entirely different team, I won't care as much. I'm hearing rumors that it was going to be seperate from the main game as it's going to be a DLC instead. <_<

Until we actually know what the magazine is saying we can't say either way. However I would be surprised if this is a mistake I mean they put it on their front page. When is this mag out btw and what territory ? I am a PC gamer so I don't really follow xbox media.

Agreed.  While it has been said that 'Mass Effect is a single player series', it has also been said that 'Nothing is confirmed until the game ships'.

The way I see it is that we can either expect multiplayer and be pleasantly surprised if it isn't in the final product, or we can keep denying that it will be there and end up disappointed when it is (unless it's spectacular). 

Unless you work for BioWare or EA you can not say with any certainty that there won't be multiplayer so please spare yourselves the time and possible disappointment by doing so.

Nah it must be some sort of misunderstanding, there have been numerous times when Bioware representatives have said that they're focusing on a solid singleplayer experience. I don't have every statement in my mind, but I'm fairly sure that you can interpret it as no multiplayer. Unless this isn't a misunderstanding, something I really hope not tends to be the case.

Chances are it'll just be reporting the rumours of multiplayer - if Bioware were going to release information like this I imagine they'd have used a more, um, respectable gaming magazine. They probably would've used GameInformer again.

I think when the magazine says "and multiplayer," it means that the issue of multiplayer is addressed in the article. I think it's meant to purposely be misleading like that.

Pretty much. I'm prepared to bet money that their article is based on all the old multiplayer rumours that have been floating around the internet for months.

Casey confirmed he and the team was working solely on singleplayer. That would not prevent EA from outsourcing developers to make a multiplayer DLC.

Good thing about this is that since it's at best a DLC, people who hate it doesn't need to get it.

I sincerely doubt they would include multiplayer as DLC. At least, it would have its own separate disk.

BF:BC 2 had free DLC for people who bought new copies of the game. Likewise, ME2 had the Cerberus Network.
