Honesty, this was to be expected. Since the EA acquisition.

Of course, this begs the question: why did it take years to occur then, if it was so inevitable?

Well they didn't get around to hiring a multiplayer lead programmer until last summer ;)

Because of what Casey has remarked a few times. That is to say, because they haven't found a way to implement it until now. You'd expect them to have figured it out by now; if so, there's no reason to hold back. EA wants it, and EA gets it. Game quality is the last thing EA cares about. It's all about how much cash they get at the end of the tunnel.

I'm hoping this means they will go to three discs or something.

I dont want to say that bioware COMPLETELY sold out just yet, but... Multiplayer? Give me a break, what hurts even worse is that they down right stated that they want "call of duties audience" IMO mass effect 2 was the best game (or at least in to top five) best game i have ever played, and now im getting some casual dumbed down experience?

ME2 was already a casual, dumbed down experience. There was almost no character build differentiation within class frameworks as a result of overly broad power distribution and minimal progression in ranks, there was no element of choosing one upgrade over another in order to enhance specific strengths with balancing weaknesses because you could just take any and all upgrades and have them active permanently, armor customization was a joke--just take whatever you think looks cool, because the mods were completely trivial, etc. etc.

i can see your point while i did like mass effect 2 better than 1 i see where your coming from. That said the ONLY thing that KINDA restores my faith in mass effect 3 and stops me from canceling my pre-order is watching the really long gameplay vid off youtube the gameplay its fun, fluid, improved, with a great atmosphere, kick ass graphics, and cool cutscenes to top it off! but then when i look up interviews or read magazines like this, and get horrible news like this (multiplayer) really makes me re-think.  I dont care what type of multiplayer it is co-op, competitive I. AM. AGAINST. IT. (for mass effect at least) i think we can all agree it just does NOT FIT..... AT ALL and now theres a emerging rumor that that mass effect 3 will be level to level back to back like gears, halo, COD ect. no free roam, *facepalm* its just a rumor fortunately but still, multiplayer is the big "secret feature X" they have been hyping up all this time? COME ON bioware, thats like EXACTLY what the fans DONT want you to do. Ever since EA came in its been hard core, dedicated, supporting fans say go left, bioware goes right why you might ask? For money.... Ya its sad.

I think what Casey means when he speaks of not figuring out a way to implement it, is that they've not figured out how to break the news to BSN without inciting violent revolution.

Same here. I hope multiplayer has its own disk at least. One that I will never touch.

Who bothers reading? Just predict the worst like everybody else.

But seriously, if it's not on a third disc I'm going to be pissed, it's a tall order fitting the game on two without MP.

You don't seem to see the contradiction: EA has owned 'em since 2007.  Why didn't they just make them do it years ago?  Why would they, if they are as you've characterized them, give a crap if Casey didn't think MP was ready to go or a non-ideal fit?  No concern for game quality, right?  Just want the cash, right? And Casey certainly ain't the boss of them.  So what was it holding them at bay for all this time then?

I figured the "multiplayer is definitely in Mass Effect 3" talk would have ceased by now. It's a rumor until proven otherwise.

Rumors never cease... don't you know that?

Edit: Just to elaborate further what I am talking about.

What is the name of this forum?

Mass Effect 3 General Discussion

Is the game out yet so we can discuss it?

No...

So what are we doing?

Discussing rumors and whatever Bioware informs of as being in the game.

Is that idea too hard for you to understand? :wizard::P

Any number of reasons. We can't claim to know how game development works; there are things the developers will never tell us. But any number of reasons could work here.

Having said that, it is worthy of note that EA released an official statement early last year saying that all their future titles will have some sort of online features and multiplayer tackled on as part of their new policy. Since then, at least 90% of the games they've published have multiplayer in them.

LOL.

Honestly, I really want any of you guys to raise your hands and tell me how video game development works. I don't think it works like the way you think it works.

Thank you, maybe when you or someone else posts the information, the speculation will stop--

But that means that the flaming and calling for everyone at Bioware/EA/Anyone who has ever been affiliated, to be fired.

But by all means, it's better than to know than to never have known at all.

So, using my incredible British knowhow, I decided to google the magazine, found the website, and the article about multiplayer.

To save those some time, it's the same story as all the other articles about ME3 multiplayer. A bunch of co-op missions. Nothing new as far as I'm aware.

Simply, it's not yours. Bioware decided to change the direction of the IP. Good or bad the decison was, they have every right to change their IP if they want.

Thank you. Like it or not, it was never yours to begin with. And
saying they should put *your* happiness above *their* happiness is just
plain silly.

If you read any of my post, you should know that I don't like MP at all

That article is from that old "leak."  So...is that what the new one says too?

There will be MP in ME3, end of story. BW have never confirmed that there will be no MP, but somehow you guys have taken them dodging questions as confirmation.

You clearly lack reading comprehension.

You were replying to that guy by essentially saying this,

">hurrrr I'm a moron and going to literally interpret that you think you own Mass Effect."

You also clearly have no idea what perceived identity is either.

clearly I'm not that good in english language, which is not my native language. And thank you for the insult.
The post which I replied said "what happened to my ME" Isn't more right to say "what happened to ME"?

Yes, it never wasn't a rumour to be fair. One thing the article does outline is the it was indeed EA pushing for the multiplayer. That comes from the same 'source' though, so it could be bull too.
