Just bought the mag and there is one tiny paragraph that says: "Well, if you believe the rumours - which we certainly do - ME3 will have MP. According to various sources, there will be a batch of 3 player co-op missions that run parallel to the main story, with each player assuming the role of a single squad mate. It seems likely that this will happen, and it'll form part of EA's Online Pass system. However devs have been known to ditch MP during development in the past, if it doesn't work..."

So they just quoted the usual rumours and put the word 'multiplayer' on the cover.

:-/

Gonna get on with the rest of my shopping.

I can sleep easy now. Thank you.

No probs Image IPB

The article is only 2 pages (4 sides) and all the info and screenshots I (and therfore I assume most peeps here as well) have seen before.

Despite having 'Multiplayer!' written on the front cover, there is only a 2" by 1" box on one of the pages discussing MP, and as you can see from previous post it is nothing we haven't already heard.

Plus the fact they're hiring/hired programmers with specific emphasis on multiplayer experience clearly shows that they want to take away from the single player experience by adding people to the team

Well I'm not too fussed about the inclusion of multiplayer, the only thing that would bother me about it would be if those who didn't utilize it were to miss out on content.

Don't foget lack of polish to the single player game because that time must then be spent on creating multiplayer. That's the only reason I don't want multiplayer. If it's released later in a DLC or created by a different team then I don't care, I simply won't play it, but I don't want my single player experience to be less good than it could be just because damn EA wants to put multiplayer in for the pure shooter fans...

Granted that is a concern, but that would also depend on how the budget for the games development has been allocated, no multiplayer could have seen a correspondingly reduced budget.

Polish is really important, just look at DA2. To do some proper polishing of a game, you need enough people and you need time. If that time is spent on something else (like multiplayer) there won't be the much needed polish. And so we'll get saddled up with a great game that is mass effect 3, but true fans will always be left with a sour taste in their mouths, thinking: "If only they had taken more time polishing this game instead of creating that stupid multiplayer *sighs*". Frankly, I don't want to have to end the ME trilogy with a feeling like that.

This would assume that those responsible for the "polishing" are the same folks that will be involved with the multiplayer facet of the game.

phew so its not confirmed... yet...

So theres still a chance ME3 will remain single player.  Yay!! B)   Well until the next story or the devs finally give us an answer.

Yes Bioware we get your trying to get over 5 million sales and attract a larger casual gamer audience.    Thing is a great game will get that without the need for a tacked on multiplayer element.

Totally called it on page 2.

Anyway, was there anything else interesting about ME3 in the mag?

Also, although I may be straying off-topic here, did they review Deus Ex?

Was there any new levels or were they based on rumors too? Also they called Bioshock Infinite the biggest game of 2012 but two of the"headlines" are games out in 2012. Weird logic.
If they reviewed Deus Ex hopefully it got a good score.

No Deus Ex review I'm afraid.

There was nothing in the ME3 article I hadn't seen or read about before.  Everything they mentioned I have already seen via this forum.

There was bit of info on Bioshock Infinite, but I havent had a chance to read it yet (too busy installing a mount on my HDTV for Kinect Image IPB).

The forums are getting cluttered with too many topics asking the same question. I'm pretty sure that's why he locked them.

I pray to god that mas effect 3 does not become dragon age 2. They tried to appeal o the masses and was ****** poor. Why is multiplayer needed on every game?

BS.

It was confirmed twice by Casey there's no multiplayer in ME3

It was not confirmed; it was dodged. We have yet to see a flatout NO from anyone from BioWare on this.

No, it was in NO way dodged.

It was confirmed twice  that BioWare tried to implement it, but failed.

As long as this is co-op I am fine, traditional MP for this game, I don't think that in any way fits.

Because Dragon Age 2 totally has multiplayer.

Sigh.. back to the rumour mill it seems, it was fun when people stopped talking about the multiplayer concept.

If it ends up with Casey stating "Oh yeah, we did try MP but it didn't work out, so no MP for ME3, at all.", he shall be awarded as the greatest troll in history.

When, oh when, will people get it through their heads that nothing announced is confirmed until the game is shipped and out the door.  Here's a quote taken directly from the "Known Feature's" thread by Casey Hudson:

"Keep in mind that nothing "quoted" is 100% guaranteed. We are still
developing the game and features change, we adapt, refine and improve.
Just because you think it is there now based off an old interview (or
even a new one) that doesn't mean it will or will not be in the game.
I
only point this out so people don't say "But I saw in a thread that "X"
feature was confirmed". NOTHING is confirmed until we ship."

See, just because they might have said in the past that ME3 would not have multiplayer in no way meant that the final product would not.  People who can't stop saying "But it was CONFIRMED, confirmed I tell you! that ME3 would not have multiplayer, so this magazine must be wrong" need to understand that nothing is confirmed until the game is shipped (and even then, with DLC, anything is possible these days).

Why do we need one?  The magazine openly stated that it was just speculating about old rumors.

Yes, and all it takes is to switch a single variable to make the game unplayable just before it goes gold, thank you.

What has been confirmed was that they have been trying to get MP into the games since before ME2, they didn't have any luck till now, with now being a few months back, and believe me when I say that creating MP for a game is essentially creating a new game, especially for a game such as ME3.

Also, they have hired a single MP-oriented programmer that we know of. They can not  develop a big MP component just like that, especially not in this development phase of SWTOR.

My verdict is, don't get too excited over this, if it is going to be MP, don't expect it to be huge.

Yeah, as far what I have seen Bioware saying directly anything related MP in ME3, they have sayed they consider it but have not figured how to do it in ME3. So, it's more like unknow. Everyone can make they own assumption from that.

For me, I hope they design next ME after ME3 for MP from starts, not try to hammer MP into ME3 by force. I have no use MP feature in ME3, it's 100% useless to me. Point been, if you want great MP gameplay with story, design game from start to be MP. Then gameplay, story and characters all supports the MP experience..
