I don't get all the hate about MP. Because Co-op would suite ME really well.. IMO.

Seriously. Is it possible for Bioware to do anything without these people flipping **** and crying RUINEDFOREVER?

Course not, but don't hate on them too much, they can't help not being able to understand how companies have 'teams' working on various things.

I mean, take the constant use of 'Dragon Age 2' as a means for them to claim 'Mass Effect 3' is following the same path, even though are worked on by different teams.

But what's *really* scary is if it's "Co-op",  because as posters earlier said,  looks to be part of EA's Online Pass system.  Which means they'll make it very integral to the plot in order to force the used-gamers to pay them.  So,  if you want the whole story,  you'll now be forced to do multiplayer in a single player game.

As I said,  this is going to end badly.

They did have an EA Online Pass Sytem for Mass Effect 2 its called the Cerberus System. SO there is no need to add MP just to have EA Online Pass when they can do Cerberus or something similar without the need of MP. Troll harder.

Just "wow" this is exactly what Mass Effect Shepards story is all about.

Would be funny if it was just one giant troll on bioware's part. But yeah, don't think so.

"Eurogamer reports that the much-rumoured multiplayer feature will include "competitive elements" and "will not compromise" the single-player portion of the game.

A reliable development source has since informed CVG that the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer feature will be built around "original missions made for online", which will be totally unique from the solo campaign.

Our mole added there would "only be a handful" of co-op missions which have been created with the intention of being "played and played again".

Reports have suggested that the online offering will come in the form of a Horde-style mode, but our source was quick to play down the notion.

Bioware's Montreal studio is said to be behind the co-op side, and was seen to be recruiting for "multiplayer" staff last year.

"Mainstream penetration is a major goal for Mass Effect 3 and those high up feel online co-op is the answer they're looking for," our source said. "EA's keen to push the multiplayer side of the game to help spread word of mouth - so it's not just going to rehash stuff from the campaign. It's going all out."

Officially BioWare's refusing to confirm the Mass Effect 3 online antics, but when pressed on the matter last week, co-founder Ray Muzyka told CVG that the studio is "exploring" multiplayer for all of its games."

This has already been discussed on page 5. Sorry for quoting myself but this was the gist of the discussion:

Looks like multi-player may very well be coming to Mass Effect 3.

I did a quick google search for "mass effect 3 multiplayer" and the first 3 results talk about rumours from a 'source' who says it's happening.

First Result

Second Result

Third Result

The rumours are that there will be co-op missions and also a horde mode, both will apparently have no effect on the single player experiance.

Funny how the first's and second's results source is the third one, and the third one's source is rumour.

So yeah, infinite loop of sources. Which means it's just speculation.

Noticed that myself, was swithering about whether to make the eurogamer link the first one but I decided to just go with the order of the google search in the end.

I'm also of the opinion that one should wait for confirmation by someone that can name a reliable source or indeed by Bioware before believing it. Even if it was Bioware who said it this is the type of feature that can be pulled from a game if they don't like it in the next year before release.

When there's smoke, there's fire.
I hoping it's only rumors but that seems naive at this point, there is too many of them saying the same and Bioware's people are just playing with words now...

Anyway, I don't like MP, I don't play MP and, surprise surprise, don't buy them.

I actually start to think that some people here just feel bad if they can't complain about something.

People still in denial over this? Guys, it's EA. They will shun no means in their pursuit of the elusive Call of Duty audience. It's just the grim reality of the situation. Yes, I wish it wasn't true as I absolutely adored BioWare as a developer. They used to stand for something really meaningful in this industry but I think it's time to accept that this is no longer case. Now they're just another manufacturer slaving away at EA's assembly line.

State of the industry, folks. Take it or leave it.

I'm not in denial that they are spending time making multiplayer, just that I don't think anyone should get too excited, or in some cases angry about it just yet.

As I said before this exactly the type of feature that can get pulled from the game in the next year if the devs don't like it or think it doesn't fit well with the rest of the game.

A way to include MP in ME3 so it is relevant to the story...

"If Shepard doesn't come back soon with help... there won't be an Earth left to save...

that line can easily be followed up by...

Nigel FishnChips: So it's up to us to defend it until Shepard comes back, who is with me!

*Three other Alliance people step forward and the four musketeers head off to defend the world from the Reaper invasion, taking on various Co-Op missions of different scenarios as they believe Shepard will come back and they need to aid Shepard by keeping up the good fight until Shepard's return*

See, it isn't that hard to come up with something that'll fit into this final part of the story which is a 'war story'.

Now how does NOT playing this affect the Single Player Experience? Simple, it doesn't.

Does playing it affect the Single Player Experience? Well... other than them potentially adding some possible 'extra gear' maybe for any ongoing playthroughs or future playthroughs, but I highly doubt anything 'story' related.

"But I want the epic extra gear and shouldn't have to play the Multiplayer to get it" sorry but that's like saying that if you play below hardcore difficulty you should be able to get the Geth Pulse Rifle in ME2, you want the loot, you got to play what is required to get it :wizard:

This is just another of my speculations, just saying it due to the constant simple chain of thought some people seem to be having.

I guess that answers the question. The funny thing is that the fanbase could halt this development if enough displeasure was expressed. EA does care when it cuts into profits. Unfortunately, you're all too indoctrinated to bother. You'll have nobody but yourselves to blame when BioWare goes the way of Bullfrog, Westwood and Mythic. Be proud in your silence.

I just want to point out that I bought June's issue of XBox World because the plastic cover stated "New Mass Effect content" then once opened the actual cover had nothing about it on. When I start reading all they did was a timeline review of ME up to Arrival.

Its an unofficial magazine and I fell for their cheap trick (which verged on lies).  They just use it to sell a couple of extra copies and I wont be fooled again.

I highly doubt this magazine has anything at all.

You must have missed the following issue then.
I'm just responding to that, for the current issue... who knows.

You already cry about something when you don't know anything yet. Sure, be a good fan, they always do this.

Just like how I cried about several things in Dragon Age II before the game was officially released much to the chagrin of BSN. It doesn't take a huge amount of foresight in order to see where this ship is headed. But don't you go removing the blinders now. They look absolutely smashing on you.

Awesome! I consider myself a huge fan of ME and I still love the idea of co-op with my friends.

You should put them on. They actually feel pretty good, and you won't be crying about the end of the world every time you hear something about a BW game...

I don't recall crying about the end of the world as much as the end of BioWare as we know it. Temper your hyperbole. I'm sure you'll do fine without it.

The old BW ended a long time ago, when they started to focus on consoles with Jade Empire. That was their first "action RPG" and not a real RPG. But it was still an awesome game so I didn't complain. ME was always more of a shooter with a good story. And I like it that way. Adding multiplayer is not some huge step that will ruin the game, especially because it won't have anything to do with the single player part of the game (it won't be a story coop), so all the decisions and everything will still be there in SP. So exactly what are you complaining about?
