how many rumors about multiplayer in Mass Effect 2 were there? Or multiplayer in DA2?

A post on the previous page summed it up brilliantly:

One or two rumors of multiplayer, alright, but this is getting ridiculous. The constant stream of 'leaks' and 'rumors', coupled with the evasive questions means somethings up. Believing otherwise at this point is just being optimistic.

So exactly what are you complaining about?

So, you respond to my posts without even getting the gist of it?

My point is that multiplayer is going to be in and that you might as well get used to the idea. With greater market penetration being the goal here this is a natural step for EAWare to take. Unless the community opts to man up and start showing some serious displeasure at this direction it's going to continue. You guys being the consumers make or break BioWare. Take some responsibility if you really love the company instead of running along with everything EA does and says. Voice your own concerns instead of sitting here trying to smack down anyone with the balls to do so. It's simple.

How is this different from DLC's, where to get full story you have to buy DLC's?
(Yeah, I know MP vs SP, but in general perspective too)

Not having to play with other people.

I rephrase the question then. What is wrong with MP if it has absolutely nothing to do with the single player part of the game? You don't care about it, you don't play it. You are not forced to.

It eats up resources which could be used on things actually beneficial to the singleplayer portion of the game. Every game operates on a budget and a portion of that budget is going to go into creating the multiplayer mode. NOTHING is free and therein lies the issue.

Or it could be the other way around -- some people are being pesimistic.

I for, one, have hopes it's just a mere rumor.

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood had a pretty nice MP part while the SP was still quite long (probably as long as AC 2) and interesting. And MP had nothing to do with SP. Portal 2 had an awesome single player and an equally awesome coop MP. So forgive me if I am not crying wolf already based on a rumor that's not even confirmed and a possible MP option we know nothing about yet.

Compare the development which took place between Assassin's Creed and Assassin's Creed II to the development which took place between Assassin's Creed II and Assasssin's Creed: Brotherhood. Point in case.

And really, you should probably cry wolf before the wolf has gnawed off your legs.

So? It was still a good game.

If they confirm MP and say that ME 3 will have dozens of MP modes with 20 levels then I might agree with you. Then they really need a lots of resources to create that. But if they say that it will have a "horde" mode with 3-4 levels taken from SP then sorry, but I won't see it as something that will force them to cut important things from SP.

EA would allocate a LARGER budget in order to include multiplayer.  Its not a zero-sum game.  They can move back release dates (WHICH THEY DID), they can put in more cash, they can hire new teams (WHICH THEY ALSO DID with BioWare Montreal).

Adding features does not necessarily mean that features are going to be missing elsewhere when it comes to a project like this.  EA has HUGE coffers to put in extra money and BioWare has extra studios and staff that they can allocate.  If they feel that the extra sales from such a feature are worth the extra time and money, they will allocate EXTRA time and money, not shift it from other locations.

I don't get all the hate about MP. Because Co-op would suite ME really well.. IMO.

Actually, it would fit fine in ME game what is design for MP from start, but not in ME3.

Hole Shepard story is design for single player consept. Every dialog and everyting is for single player perspective as player been Shepard and only Shepard. Maybe it's because from ME1 to ME3 it's Shepards story.

Jezus christ, the mayority of the people who played the first 2 games won't jump in this game by starting up co-op.
I don't know if u ever played LOTR: Return of The King. That game had some realy simple RPG features + co-op. It didn't make much sense running around with Faramir in Shelobs lair, but it was hellavolot of FUN. Yes, that's right. FUN.

Me and my brother are both huge ME fans, and we've discussed why there is no co-op in ME, and the only reason we could come up with is the lack of RAM-memory.
It would be awesome if i was playing ME3 for the 4353th time, and my brother came in and just picked up the controller and started playing as one of my squad-mates.
Who even cares about the entire dialog when you play it for the 5th time? It's only about the huge choices during the game to get an different ending.
And shooting stuff offcourse.

This! Seriously, how many times does it need to be repeated?

Bioware isn't some small design studio. If they decide to include MP, they would get a team assembled to do so, which it would appear to be BioWare Montreal. Meaning nothing is diverted from the Single Player. See, people tend to specialize in things. Someone who is good at designing Single Player stuff may have zero knowledge in the back end stuff of Multiplayer Netcoding and map balance, and the same is true for the reverse.

And the fact of the matter is that while it may divert money, that doesn't impact quality all that much unless a substantial amount of money is diverted. Bioware, like any good developer, has wasted portions on the budget testing out plenty of things. Think of Mass Effect 2, and how much of the "budget" must have been wasted having removed Samara, Legion (especially Legion), Thane, and Tali from the first act of the game. And that's just a glaringly obvious example. All games ever made have money dumped into plenty of things in order to see what works. That's how it's done.

For as much as you people think otherwise, the Single Player will not be inferior in anyway with the inclusion of Multiplayer. They're seperate teams, and the MP would likely have very little to do with the SP other than minor stuff (maybe making some textures or something, or grabbing coffee).

Budget does not equate to quality of the game, at all. Especially with EA backing them, and more than likely willing to extend the budget for them.

Sheesh, you people act like Bioware had to decide between MP and the entire third act of the game or something...

Cool story, bro. My favorite part was when you claimed that the moment multiplayer is in the picture, everyone's IQ is halved. Really, your superiority has been noted.

Stereo-typing my friend, sometimes its bad, sometimes its logical. Which do you think is smarter the football fueled 13 year old kid who LOOOOVES call of duty and gears of war, or the older, more mature chess player? Wake up will you, sides i think the big bad wolf can take care of himself on these forums :P

Although this doesn't pertain completely to this MP rumor, I still can't help but feel disappointed that Bioware moderates these forums so poorly/cares so little about the "feelings" on their fans (even if these feelings are mostly whining, Bioware should be at least somewhat concerned that several members of their fanbase are growing ulcers); a fact made worse since they hire community staff such as Chris Priestly and Stanley Woo specifically to organize social events and communicate with potential consumers/fans directly, whose responsibility I assume would include addressing concerns that the community feels very strongly about in a clear and concise manner.

Would it really hurt to give a definitive answer to MP? Although I believe Casey when he mentioned the little tidbit of info regarding MP in ME3 during the SDCC Q&A, it was, however, an indirect answer, so these rumors do carry some weight if not dismissed directly and clearly by a Bioware developer.

The game is, after all, in the final stages of production - if MP is indeed a feature of ME3 it is not coming out and vice-versa. Basically, instead of redirecting threads, I wish Bioware would either A) tell us to expect more info on MP "soon" or B) claim that "MP is something we are considering for future Mass Effect titles, but ME3 will remain a strictly SP experience".

The way Bioware seems to be handling this situation (and previous situations) is shameful at best.

Great analogy.<_< What type of videogames the chess player use?
Not every person who plays or love COD and GOW are 13 years old kid. I'm against MP, but that doesn't mean that I'm more intelligent that people who want MP. I can understand if you said that people who want MP "could" be MP, but saying that people who like MP have lower IQ isn't very logical.

Edit: oh, and sterotypes are always BAD.
