"No comment" certainly wasn't the answer I was looking for...because often this just means: "We are not ready to announce it yet".

C'mon BW, don't ruin the last entry of the series by implementing a hippster feature the majority doesn't want.

What he possibly means is some poll that was done on here where the majority of people who took part in that poll stated they don't want it. What he fails to understand is that poll majority =/= actual majority of ME fans.

Here is the poll they refer:

http://social.biowar...17/polls/13874/

Remember this poll is MP in ME3, not in general MP in Mass Effect Franchise, what is different thing.

No...that poll here on the social site only reflects what the "fans" of ME want (or do not want). I was thinking of that poll from back of the beginning of the year where a popular gaming website asked its readers if they want MP in ME3.

It was something like 70-80% who said "no thanks".

Not sure what else you expected.  Most of the time, they don't even bother with saying "No comment."  They just don't comment.

Not to mention if I deny it, no one believes me anyways. So I'm just letting this run until the magazine comes out and you see what they actually say.

While I'd like to believe it, this is exactly what you guys said in regards to the Kinect rumors--that you "don't comment on rumors". A few days later it was confirmed at E3. Figures...

In any event, I'm holding my breath.

Yes, but it's still assumption that it's connected to ME3. ME3 development was started before they even started looking developers with MP abilities.

The other thing to keep in mind is that it's a notice for ONE programmer, and we haven't seen or heard of more MP programmers being hired.  It's suggestive, but it's far from solid, and very far from proof.

OK, but what about other rumors they didn't comment on that turned out to NOT be true?  Are you sure you aren't falling prey to confirmation bias?

Well, ... I'll be at Gamescom (first-timer, so hope I don't get squished or something) and can tell you if they announce it or not ... if they don't have a live-stream already that is.

I'm not sure of anything anymore, Didy. I guess we should always assume/expect the worst anyway. What's really driving me nuts is the fact that they're refusing to flatly deny these MP rumors. Saying "We've considered it," or "We're focusing on the SP" is a non-answer and leaves you with more question than answers, yet it's all we've ever heard about this.

Oh well, GamesCom is just a couple weeks ahead, right? Right. *goes back to playing Dead Space 2*

Ok, instead of commenting on rumours, how about answering the following question: will there be MP in ME3?

By MP I mean any form of gameplay with more than 1 person, regardless of whether it is competitive, co-op etc.
And by ME3 I mean the main game and subsequent DLC releases.

Simple yes or no answer, and of course we will believe you......on second thoughts maybe get Brenon to answer Image IPB

Chris, the magazine is already out a few hours ago and it has...
NOTHING :wizard:

Just an article talking about the rumours of MP in Mass Effect 3

I'll wait for more people to verify this. Not the first time I have fallen for a headline:

Headline - "Is hot Actrees naked inside?"
Article - "No, but we wish she was".

Etc.

I bought the magazine about 24 hours ago (about 0900 British Summer Time) and originally posted what it said on page 25 of this thread.  I'll repost my original post below:

Just bought the mag and there is one tiny paragraph that says:

"Well, if you believe the rumours - which we certainly do - ME3 will have MP. According to various sources, there will be a batch of 3 player co-op missions that run parallel to the main story, with each player assuming the role of a single squad mate. It seems likely that this will happen, and it'll form part of EA's Online Pass system. However devs have been known to ditch MP during development in the past, if it doesn't work..."

So they just quoted the usual rumours and put the word 'multiplayer' on the cover.

So here I was running to my nearest shop in order to get Xbox 360 World. I too saw the cover and was like- "GASP!! This magazine will tell me all about new multiplayer!!!" But once I bought it the article was 4 pages of describing demos of mass effect I've already seen on you-tube and a tiny paragraph regarding the multiplayer. It said this-

"Well, if you believe the rumours- which we certainly do- Mass Effect 3 will have multiplayer. According to various sources, there will be a batch of three-player co-op missions that run parallel to the main story, with each player assuming the role of a single squad mate. It seems likely that this will happen, and that it'll form part of EA's Online Pass system. However, devs have been known to ditch multiplayer during development in the past if it doesn't work."

So basically- "We heard that there may be multiplayer but there might not be." Thanks Xbox 360 World, you just stole 5 pounds off of me. I shall never buy your magazine ever again.

Isn't that hole point of bad magazines. To get people buy they product, no matter what. If they don't have any real news to report, they start to invent them based rumors. I ques people slowly learn to know what magazines reports real news and what invent they own news.

What about Ign? Does that cover actual ME fans? You know, with the poll that exceeded 100,000 votes, 75% of that against multiplayer?

If you don't call that the ajority, i don't know what is.

Both Mass Effects sold millions of copies. How on Earth would you or I know what the majority wants? Even if there are a thousand people on this forum thats less than 0.05% of the people that bought ME2. The majority may be perfectly fine with multiplayer.

100,000 is less than 5% of the people who bought ME2 (based on the 2 millions copies sold in week 1, so in reality ME2 probably sold a lot more). That is nowhere near a majority.

Multiplayer means

We cannot cheat to avoid hours of planet scanning.
It means we cannot mod the combat to be enjoyable (overheat-cooldown)

By "hot actress" you mean Yvonne Strahovski, right?

Admit it, I'm unto you.

Lol remember when chris said mas effect 2 won't come to ps3? Heh that was a brilliant lie, we all fell for. Not that it was a bad thing but multiplayer? We all know it is going to happen, chris won't admit it because it's there, in the past they were saying multiplayer isn't in, but now rumours are coming up, they won't tell us, not until gamescon. Rumours always have a hint of truth. Bioware just got greedy.

How can tv stations accurately predict the outcome of the presidential election based on only a couple of 1000's (sometimes even just hundreds) votes ? The sample-size that IGN-poll probed is *more* than large enough to accurately predict what the majority wants.

While it isn't voted on by every mass effect player, it is plenty enough to show a statistic. For instance.. Blonde Shepard in ME, got roughly 40% of the votes on both Facebook (Large scale voting) and on the BSN, (Small scale). So when you have 3-4 polls all giving a majority to one response. You can statistically rationalize that the rest of the votes, while there will be more votes for multiplayer. That it'll be skewed to around 70% against multiplayer.

Therefore, you can safely say that the majority is against it, the same way people can say 1 and 3 people have hepatitus or any other statistic that science reveals.
