Also look at how he worded his post "we do not want to close ourselves off from any possibilities". Does that sound like a "no, no MP in ME3" to you? To me it does not, It does on the other hand, sound like a dodge, sybilline answer on the matter.......now why would that be?

People make they own assumption.

"Does that sound like a "no, no MP in ME3" to you?"
"Does that sound like a "yes, MP is in ME3" to you?"

Both are equal valid assumptions. The bolded in quote below is Biowares saying, other is interviewers saying as give content connection.

Game Informer wrote .......

When the teaser for Mass Effect 3 first released, rumours were swirling that the project was actually a multiplayer title set in the Mass Effect universe. Those rumours turned out to be false, but it got many gamers thinking about how a multiplayer component would fit into the Mass Effect trilogy.  Rest assured, the team has thought about this too, "As a single-player experience, and just as a world that people want to immerse themselves in and share, we've been trying to think of a way  that makes sense for people to experience Mass Effect with friends," says executive producer Casey Hudson.  "We haven't yet come up with a way to do that, so we don't have anything to announce at this time.  But obviously, multiplayer is something we want to do more of in the future as a company".

Because we do not comment on rumors? Because we do not ever want to close ourselves off for a possibility for sometime (days, weeks, years, etc) in the future? Because no one believes us no matter what we say? Because you think impure thoughts about Martha Stewart? Because we don't want to?

I give up? Why?

Nobody believes you (and by that I mostly mean Casey Hudson) because all we get are evasive, over-complicated or ambiguous answers.  I appreciate there are things that you cannot give clear answers to and have to be  vague, and I don't think, for something like this at least, that we are somehow 'entitled' to an answer.

If you wanted to be believed, all you, or anybody else from BW would have to say is "there will/won't be MP in ME3".  Then all the rumours and the threads discussing the issue of MP would stop.

The game is now 8 months from release, and as time goes on the excuse of "we do not ever want to close ourselves off for a possibility for sometime (days, weeks, years, etc) in the future" will wear increasingly thin as you will have to know at some point whether MP is in the game or not.

And my fantasies about Martha Stewart should have no bearing on whether you answer our questions Image IPB

A co-op multiplayer sidestory would be nice. Maybe as an addon after the game is done.
As we all know ME3 is supposed to end Shepards saga but they also confirmed they are still looking for ways to deliver good DLC. This could be one of those ways and also a way to open up another chapter of the Mass Effect Universe with new characters for the future.

I guess we'll just have to wait for the final game to be released.
I know many studios play with the idea of multiplayer during development and toss them out in the final product.
On the other hand it might also work out just fine. Uncharted 2 and also the upcoming Uncharted 3 have got a great multiplayer mode, as does Metal Gear Solid 4. So it might be possible for ME3 as well... We'll see.
I trust Bioware's capbility for this decision on the matter.

Is it too late to point out that I was posing a rhetorical question?

Also, Martha Stewart is hot. What a homemaker! She's the perfect woman.

Hey, I wasn't complaining as such, just trying to point out to Chris why we have doubts about what we hear from BW regarding this issue.

Okay I'm trying to understand this so don't necessarily take this as me insulting you or whatever.

So you don't trust them because they give ambiguous answers? Now to me that doesn't make sense because the whole point of giving ambiguous answers is so you won't have to lie to the fans and whenever you do confirm something it would likely be the truth.

Now the only way you can trust them is that they answer you properly? Then that would mean you always trusted them. It was never a matter of trust or not it was a matter of just giving a straight answer. Now I understand that you want that but the fact is I doubt even Bioware is entirely sure they want MP in this thats why they are giving vague answers. They are pretty much like me. I'm barely sure of what I want to do until the last minute lol. Now thats a exaggeration but it fits somewhat.

I think my post got a bit muddled because I was responding to Chris' accusation that we don't believe them, so i'll try and start over.

What I'm trying to say is that when they give us an answer that is ambiguous, we don't accept because although it may be worded (for example) as a denial of MP being in ME3, it is never as clear cut as we would like.  I can't speak for Chris, but maybe when he said that we never believe them, what he really means is we never seem to just accept the answer and then create 40 page threads about it Image IPB

Although I was quoting Chris, I probably shouldn't have focused on me not believing them because that in retrospect is not what I meant.

1136342t54 wrote...

Again I probably should not have said that my belief of what they say is based on whether they answer me in a fashion I like or not.  What I really mean is that if they give an ambiguouos answer (which I understand that they have to sometimes do) to a question, I'm not going to consider that question answered conclusively (my problem not their's Image IPB).

I don't know, i don't like the idea of having a multiplayer function in a Mass Effect game. Can't they just put the idea on the side and save it for their next IP? I'm sure it will be great, but i will care less about it.

Ah that's understandable. Usually when Bioware gives out those kind of answers I assume the translation means "Wait five more months and maybe we will throw you a bone."

Again that's understandable but I think thats the point. If you assume that's their final say on the matter then what they tried to do didn't work. For now it seems like they want the fans to not know one way or another that Bioware will be doing multiplayer since they aren't sure themselves.

Maybe you should work for them Image IPB

Maybe so lol.

I give up? Why?

But you do.  You commented on the rumor that Bioware was removing skills,  based from an interview.  You've commented on other rumors as well.

Plus,  as previously stated,  if the answer is "No",  then what do you lose by flatly stating "No,  it's not in.".

OTOH,  how many angry fans will you have if the answer is "No",  they read that article,  and you did not deny it permitting them to believe it was in until release?  That's a *huge* cost to you.

So honestly,  no offense,  start the email chain with the dept heads,  get the approval,  and just tell us it's in there.  Because the *only* reason you wouldn't comment is if it's true,  and you don't have approval to state that prior to the official announcement.

There's nothing to be gained from "No comment" if it's false,  and a huge amount to lose.  There's no reason why you'd do that.

"DA2 was not as critically acclaimed as DA:O, so it is indeed a true fact that the quality was overall worse."

Please pull a useful argument rather than posting random examples of skepticists who considered themselves to be right by the end of the day

Do you realize how incredibly ironic it is,  you making those statements,  given your blind defense of anything Bioware related,  no matter how precarious your position is,  to the point where you spent weeks claiming D&D was a board game,  because you don't know anything about RPGs in the first place?

You're pretty much the epitome of what you just described.  I've yet to see a single word of criticism from you on their failings,  but you pop up when anything even slightly negative is said to defend the maiden's honor,  even when you've no data on the subject at hand.

These guys slave over making this series, and everyone complains. They'll do it how they want to, and as much as I'd like to hear from Bioware about their multiplayer out of curiosity, does not mean we're going to get an answer. The best you MIGHT get is at Gamescom in September. That's it. So stop finding things to complain about. Well, you won't. But I'd like to believe.

you obviously ignore a few things

1: this is how BSN works
2: Bioware listens, if you had been around durning Xmas time before ME2 was released then you'd know. No criticism = no improvement.
3: It's their game...which they are selling to us and it is crafted for the public not for themselves. Listening to the people yu are going to sell something to sounds like a good idea.

Yes, but they can have very selective hearing. If these multiplayer rumours are true (and I have a bad feeling that they are) Then it really does bring into question exactly who they are listening to.

They may add a tiny gimmick, maybe an online leaderboard system or *whatever*, that may be *classified* as multiplayer, or something just as abstract and unclear at *this point*. So they just CAN'T SAY ANYTHING DEFINITE THIS EARLY. That's what I got, crystal clear. Cut those people some slack, I'm sure if they do come in here they get 10% honest feedback and 90% demoralization because they can't connect simple messages with the community...

If they implement some fans requests, there is a good chance they're going against the wishes of other fans.

Developers listen to fans up until a point, and that point is probably a divergence from whatever vision they have for their game(s).

I think the issue here is that people hear "Listening to fans" and just assumes this means they can directly influence the game, when it would seem listening to fans is probably more akin to a brain storming session on a really, really, large, huge white board.

I have every achievement and will be pissed if I have to play any MP that has achievements tied to it especially in campaign.

If it's a zombie mode like RDR is one thing but I don't want any coop in the main story. I spent 80 hrs probably taking my time on the story and would never want to wait or have to rely on another person. Granted it could be like fable where jump in and out is posslbie but just wait for a damn new game and don't F up this one
