he believes that adding MP would be further distancing oneself from the RPG core of Mass Effect and moving further toward the shooter side
which is what RPG fans are dreading

Multiplayer probably won't do that.

doing something and being a sign of change are not the same thing.

And adding multiplayer won't turn ME3 into a Gears of War clone.

Bioware removed NG+ from ME2. it was made clear around the summer of that year. Such reveal made people unhappy, enough that one of the devs (Preston I think......and Christina Norman) created a thread about why we liked NG+. The thread reached page 100+...around Xmas that year it was announced the feature (NG+) was re-implemented in the game
Ok great, never would have known. How many times did the devs create a thread to ask BSN to help out?

Christina Norman esplicitly created a thread to ask people what they wanted from higher difficulty settings too....

but if Mass Effect is a Shooter RPG hybrid the adding of MP goes to show that Bioware is moving more toward the Shooter side and less toward the RPG (at least in some people's mind)

If you're such a xenophobic nut that the mere inclusion of the option of human interaction when playing this game causes you to rage like an 8 year old throwing a tantrum in the middle of a grocery store, then it's likely nobody will be partaking in the multiplayer experience with you anyways.
If this is a feature of this game, then DEAL WITH IT.

Great, but i was wondering if there were other times where actual devs asked for your opinion. I mean does it happen allot or just around xmas
Edit: brainfart.. that is another subject.. for a second i thought you ment the difficulty settings for another playthrough. So twice?

Don't want to sound like a *****, but at least 1/4 of the matches I play online include 8 year olds throwing tantrums. Which is the main reason why I don't like partaking in the online mutliplayer experience.

oh....well......Christina Norman (who is a lead developer) asked for the difficulty settings feed back way before Xmas....
I pointed out the Xmas thing because that is when it was revealed that NG+ was put back in the game

not by necessity. Mass Effect 2 was streamlined and made more into a shooter (less customization, linear upgrades, no inventory, static squadmates with LESS skills and powers). Can you really blame them for being weary now?

Correct me if I am wrong, but didn’t Casey say in some interview for the making of Mass Effect that he never really intended it to be an RPG, it just sort of happened?
Also, as much as you need to find some reason to hate it, saying that multiplayer will make Mass Effect 3 bad and that it will take away RPG elements is as bad as an argument as saying that Kinect support will make the game worse because it takes away time spent working on other parts of the game.
Bright Idea: wait to see if multiplayer truly exists before we open our mouths in baseless assumptions. Then, if it is confirmed, wait until we can see it before we make further baseless assumptions.

You make it sound like someone specifically stated, "We will be adding a Halo 3 mode to Mass Effect 3."Mr. MannlyMan wrote...

would you count the Femshepard appearance thing?
that was a direct question they aimed us
but there are many more examples about Bioware listening to the fans than just "direct questions/requests"

I think the word you're looking for is misanthrope NOT xenophobic, which is defined as having a hatred of cultures foreign to their own.

1: no...Casey called it an RPG from the start....even in the first video
2: I honestly do not care. I will not play MP..its existence does not bother me. IF it will suck resources from the single player campaign's pool then yeah THAT will bother me
3: Hence this topic, we are waiting for an answer

I'm 100% confident that BW isn't going to give us an abridged campaign just so you can play grabass with another player.crimzontearz wrote...

That was an improvement. ME2 was less tedious. And no, that did not take away from the RPG element. Can I blame them? Yes, for not knowing that there is no exact definition of an RPG.

Troll? I'll assume that you aren't one for now. If you assume that most people are against multiplayer in ME3 because they're afraid of interacting with other humans while gaming then I'm afraid to inform you that you are incorrect.
But Mr. Hudson's recent comments on the matter have laid my fears to rest, I'm fairly certain there won't be MP in ME3 now.
