having squadmates with many skills was not tedious, it was deeper. If they reduced the skill points but kept all the skills then THAT would have been an improvement. If they ditched ALL the redundant weapons but kept the various differentiated upgrades and mods THAT would have been an improvement. Fact is that mechanically they did move away from the traditional rpg mechanics AND their depth in favor of a simpler, more streamlined experience. I dig that....as long as depth is not lost in the process. To me....some depth was lost

I hardly used the skills, so I found micro managing the characters to be tedious.

having more skills = micromanaging

Then I want less skills, like ME2.

less skills is less depth especially if the skills are as varied as ME1's

less depth =  leaning toward a shooter

some (a lot of) people dislike that especially people who want a deeper game than say Halo or GoW

Unless EA had some other company go and make multiplayer at the last minute, and didn't take any resources from bioware and the story, then I'll be pissed if that covers true

No reliable source was ever given, I'll remain sceptical till I hear otherwise from Bioware.

If the rumours are true I would expect an announcement in the next couple of months because marketing will want to use it as a selling point for the game.

If we hear nothing before the new year I won't really be expecting to hear anything about it.

And apparently it will be a Gamescon debut and will be playable in two uk trade shows in September.

Are rumors usually so in-depth?

Not that in depth, I could say their putting a huge mode in where you play santa and have to deliver the galaxy's christmas presents and it's being developed by the new team at Bioware Ireland. It wouldn't make it true.

MP for ME3 has been rumoured for months know. Casey Hudson has repeatedly denied this as one of the features in ME3. I think the MP game designers hired in the Montreal Bioware division were for a Mass Effect spin-off of some kind.

If all of my speculation is true, not sure MP would necessarily be a bad thing so long as the main game is still of a quality that will please fans.

This. I'm still hoping that Casey was telling the truth when he said that MP was not part of ME3, but this rumor just won't go away.

^^ While I would agree I will mention the ME series has never been a pure RPG series.

it was an RPG with shooter mechanics...or an RPG/Shooter hybrid

that still makes it "also" an rpg

I never said Me was never an RPG series, the key word is pure. When dealing with ME some RPG elements are not going to be "missing in action" as its not a full 100% rpg. Unless we going to **** and moan that ME lacks an attribute system for example.

nah, but as you saw in ME2 the RPG elements were greatly reduced. not just streamlined...reduced

And like most people I wanted some of those elements- kinda.  I loved ME2, did miss some of those RPG elements? Sure but not to the point were in ruined ME2 for me like the more hardcore forumites. To put in bluntly I missed the elements but not the execution of said elements that ME1 had. (I don't want this to turn into an ME1 vs ME2 just using the example).

Using the weapon customization as an example. I missed the idea but not execution. ME1 honestly it was hard to see if the mods were actually making a difference. Between Stability mod A and Stability mod B there was barely any noticeable difference.

If the ME3 has those same RPGs elements with better execution then I have all my chips in a pile and am all in.

Honestly.. someone should start up a website that is solely devoted to ME3 multiplayer modes, and each week or day, whatever.. update it with a new theory about MP in ME3.

Sell advertising on that site, and you'd make a killing from really reporting nothing. It's obvious you're going to get some traffic!

Why do you suppose that is? Hmm.

Because we do not comment on rumors? Because we do not ever want to close ourselves off for a possibility for sometime (days, weeks, years, etc) in the future? Because no one believes us no matter what we say? Because you think impure thoughts about Martha Stewart? Because we don't want to?

I give up? Why?

Too be fair, how many times did we hear that there was no PS3 version of Mass Effect 2?

While I can sympathise with not wanting to announce something, there is the great debate of marketing/lying/rumors etc that has gone on for years. :wizard:

Guys the rumors aren't true. The magazine only repeats all the speculation that you've heard from earlier sources. There is no official announcement regarding multiplayer of any sort for ME3, just an acknowledgment that they are interested in pursuing multiplayer for future titles.

Rumors are always hard to control. However, this doesn't make the rumor any more credible. Besides, if there really was a big reveal like multiplayer being added to the game, don't you think the Community manager would have posted something alluding either to it by now? It would sound kind of arbitrary for Bioware not to circulate any kind of new developments here first.

Not all that many, actually.  It came up shortly before release, then once more shortly after release when people looked at the Coalesced.ini file.    Then we didn't hear anything for months, at which point we got the rumor it would be announced at Gamescom just a few days before it was.

Have we all forgotten that a game can have a good singleplayer AND a good multiplayer? Or even a good singleplayer and a decent multiplayer? Dead Space 2 had multiplayer and Dead Space 2's campaign was a big barrel of fun.

No,  he wouldn't.  Marketing would have a time and place for the announcement already arranged,  and a moratorium on actually discussing it until that date.  Priestly would be forbidden,  on pains of termination,  from dropping the news prior to the announcement,  and would require permission from dept heads to do so.  Likely Marketing,  project lead,  producer,  Bioware leader,  and one or two EA reps.

OTOH,  he wouldn't need anyone's permission to say "No.  This is false.",  nor would Casey.

So it becomes pretty obvious it is true,  given how specific the "Rumors" are,  and how neither one of them will definitively say "No MP in ME3".

As to the supposed specificness of the rumours might I refer you to my earlier post as the articals would not fall within the definition of specific I grew up with.
