This. I'm still hoping that Casey was telling the truth when he said that MP was not part of ME3, but this rumor just won't go away. 

Guys the rumors aren't true. The magazine only repeats all the speculation that you've heard from earlier sources. There is no official announcement regarding multiplayer of any sort for ME3, just an acknowledgment that they are interested in pursuing multiplayer for future titles. 

Rumors are always hard to control. However, this doesn't make the rumor any more credible. Besides, if there really was a big reveal like multiplayer being added to the game, don't you think the Community manager would have posted something alluding either to it by now? It would sound kind of arbitrary for Bioware not to circulate any kind of new developments here first.

No,  he wouldn't.  Marketing would have a time and place for the announcement already arranged,  and a moratorium on actually discussing it until that date.  Priestly would be forbidden,  on pains of termination,  from dropping the news prior to the announcement,  and would require permission from dept heads to do so.  Likely Marketing,  project lead,  producer,  Bioware leader,  and one or two EA reps.

OTOH,  he wouldn't need anyone's permission to say "No.  This is false.",  nor would Casey.

So it becomes pretty obvious it is true,  given how specific the "Rumors" are,  and how neither one of them will definitively say "No MP in ME3". 

As to the supposed specificness of the rumours might I refer you to my earlier post as the articals would not fall within the definition of specific I grew up with.

The conspiracy is not for if ME3 has multiplayer or not, its the idea the EA bosses are on satans throne plotting to destroy the hardcore RPG fans

I was just addressing the fact everyone seems to think these rumours are specific, I didn't mention the rest of his point cause it's a fair one.

What I mean to say is people shouldn't think these rumours are credible because they are specific, they arn't specific.

I also didn't argue his point about the devs silence because as I myself have said in previous pages on this thread; It's possible they could announce multiplayer at the next big games conference.

Thought I should clear that up since my post wasn't exactly concise or eloquent.

I am going to be quite blunt here; all of those are terrible excuses. Listen, there are 3 quotes you can make:

1. There will be NO multiplayer in Mass Effect 3 and we are 100% sure of that.
2. Well, uh, there could be, at any given time, multiplayer implemented. At the same time, we probably wont do it but I can't really comment. (This is the one you guys are using right now)
3. There is a good possibility that EA will try to put multiplayer in ME3. However, I do not have the final word, so I am unable confirm. 

Number 3 is the honest and right choice, because at this point, you are just causing the entire community trouble and dividing the forums into a hellstorm of fury. I realize you do not control what gets put in the game, but I would recommend passing the message along that anouncing this as a surprise would be the worst idea possible and would cause you a Capcom-tier fiasco. Many of the fans DO NOT want multiplayer or are unhappy with the secrecy, it would be a slap in the face to make a 'big' announcement and then it being underwhelming or negative.

I can't tell you how to do your job, but I can certainly tell you that major communities on the internet are already at their boiling point with this.

I edited that post you quoted cause it didn't get my point across as well as I liked.

I agree with you though. My opinion is that if we don't hear anything by hogmanay then there probably won't be a multiplayer as it would be a selling point they'd want to use between January and release.

Aye, I think co-op could be a good thing for Mass Effect, not necessary but not somthing that would detract from the game any.

I think competitive multiplayer would be best left for a future Mass Effect game where it could be done well. I'd like the end of the trilogy to be more about Shepard than anything else.

WHY? Nobody wanted it... at least nobody that cares about the series. Why is it that whenever a developer is making a game they appeal to newcomers and forget about fans. Is it because they think we'll buy it anyway, so who cares what we think? Or is it because a dumbed down game where there is no complexity is easier to make?

Multiplayer is like the gate-way drug of story mediocrity. Unless you make it like Assassin's Creed, it's not going to be vastly different then other attempts done better (like BF2). All it does is take away effort better spent on story.

Edit: Just realized the magazine was being dishonest, so forget my rant please.

I said alluded to it, not divulged information he wasn't supposed to. Take for instance, how they released timed screenshots for Arrival. The same logic applies here. If there was anything remotely close to what has already been proven false - you can't use faulty rumors to support your argument- we'd know about it here first. This is the official site, after all. Especially given the claims made by the magazine article. In fact, that very magazine, if it were legit, would have been mentioned in the news feed like every other magazine article or interview featuring info on ME3. Point stands. Here is a thread discussing what is actually said in the article.

It's still a rumour at this point. If it is true then it won't be the end of the world, you'll just have to put up with the disappointment.

Another point worth noting is that the people rumoured to be making the multiplayer are a different and seperate team from the one that is making the single player.

I think if there is multiplayer, it won't detract from the single player as it's being developed seperately.

Being such a huge Mass Effect fan I find this news about the multiplayer to be disappointing, I know sometimes its good to be optimistic and give things a chance but this news just bothers me because its been a single player game since the beginning and now right at the end they want to experiment. They should just make a standalone game and it will be just fine with a lot of people. They shouldnt be experimenting they should just stick with what they were doing best with the first two games, look at the awards they got, they didn’t have or need multiplayer to be such fantastic games. The multiplayer mode is supposed to make its debut at Gamescon, please Bioware if you say you listen to your fans please really listen this time, No Multiplayer Please !!
