How much you wanna bet the MP will be on earth? It's supposedly the battles that will be happening after we leave Earth in the SP game. I doubt we'll be using our Shepards. It'll be a selection of the classes, but generic characters to pick from.

Yeah... it's probably going to husks vs. humans etc

The team with the highest score gets a freaking Reaper at the end. *DOUBLE KILL* *KILLTACULAR*  B)

Let it be true. I wouldn't mind some MP in ME3. Give my friends a reason to pick it up, it would.

Your friends suck. :P J/K

No, they didn't have access to firepower, aegis, and both AAPs.

And I already said that AAP2 is not free.

Neither are those.

It's not DLC. It's a feature included with the game that people who don't have the game brand-new have to pay for. Big difference.

Firewalker pack and normandy crash site were free. There were some other free dlcs i just can't remember them.

Also every ME2 DLC on PS3 but AAP2 and Arrival are free.

No.  The Recon Ops, Firepower, Aegis, Equalizer and Terminus ones aren't free.

Looks like multi-player may very well be coming to Mass Effect 3.

I did a quick google search for "mass effect 3 multiplayer" and the first 3 results talk about rumours from a 'source' who says it's happening.

First Result

Second Result

Third Result

The rumours are that there will be co-op missions and also a horde mode, both will apparently have no effect on the single player experiance.

Funny how the first's and second's results source is the third one, and the third one's source is rumour.

So yeah, infinite loop of sources. Which means it's just speculation.

Noticed that myself, was swithering about whether to make the eurogamer link the first one but I decided to just go with the order of the google search in the end.

I'm also of the opinion that one should wait for confirmation by someone that can name a reliable source or indeed by Bioware before believing it. Even if it was Bioware who said it this is the type of feature that can be pulled from a game if they don't like it in the next year before release.

That's true, but I remember the same kind of rumors about the Halo: CE remake several months before it was announced, and those didn't even agree. Some sites were saying it was going to be an HD rerelease, others were sayong it was going to be remade in Halo: Reach's enging, while others said it was being remade in a new engine. Lo and behold, at E3 they announce Halo: Aniversary, and they were all somewhat right. It was being run inthe original CE engine with a seperate engine for graphics running simultaneously, while the multiplayer was being done in Reach's engine.

Point is, while it's just a rumor, but it's a widespread rumor, and where there's smoke, there's probably fire.

Of course it is. But it's all fueled by Bioware's unwillingness to definitively kill the rumor for good. They always respond with a non-answer when asked if ME3 will have a MP mode, like "we're going to deliver an awesome single player experience!"

Which is not an answer to the question. And you must wonder why they won't say no.

That's the problem. I wished Bioware could make the definite step and say: "There's multiplayer in the making", or "There's no multiplayer" just so the rumours would stop.

And I'm willing to say they can't say a definite answer because there's an internal debate about it. I think they're still deciding if they should add it or not.

On the one hand, they may be basing the whole multiplayer thing on the same rumours we keep discussing on this forum. Xbox World 360 is a bit like IGN when it comes to facts.

On the other hand, if it is true then shouldn't we give Bioware the benefit of the doubt? They aren't going to sabotage a franchise as successful as Mass Effect - not only have they invested a lot of years in this universe, but it also has the potential to make them a lot of money. They would only add multiplayer if they felt it complimented the game - otherwise they risk losing their established fans and alienating new ones.

There is a chance that Bioware has done something genuinely original with multiplayer. Assassin's Creed, for example, managed to have a multiplayer style very much in keeping with what Assassin's Creed is. If this does turn out to be true, we should at least give Bioware the benefit of the doubt.

Then again, this is BSN so let the outrage begin.

@"They aren't going to sabotage a franchise as successful as Mass Effect.."

Yes, they will, and it looks like they're doing just that because they've become EA's new lapdog.

@"..not only have they invested a lot of years in this universe, but it also has the potential to make them a lot of money. They would only add multiplayer if they felt it complimented the game.."

When it comes down to it, money is all EA cares about. No matter how hard the developer has worked on the game and its story.  They'll tack on multiplayer because EA is pushing the Herpity-Derpity mindset that every good game must have multiplayer.

@"..otherwise they risk losing their established fans and alienating new ones."

What do they care if they lose their loyal fanbase in the grand scheme of brining in all of the droves of "HURRRCODBLOPSGEARSOFWARYAAYYAYAYAYAim12whatisthisYAYAYAYSHUTUPANDTAKEMYMONEY" crowd?
They aren't alienating any "new" fans. They're now catering the game to mindless shooter fanatics.

From what I've seen, they're turning my favorite game series into a flashy gears of war clone with a few extra bells and whistles.

They've done nothing but dodge the multiplayer question, and as soon as this gets the official confirmation, I'm driving back to Gamestop and getting my ten dollars back. I'm not about to pay $70 for this. Thanks a lot, Bioware. You sold out.

I can't believe I didn't see this coming a year back...

This is precisely what I've been saying. There's got to be a reason why they haven't flat out denied multiplayer.

because ME is asingle player story driven RPG

wasting resources on MP means those resources are NOT being spent on the single player experience

if I wanted to play sci fi shooter in multiplayer I'd be playing goddamn halo

What Casey said is that they're throwing all manpower into developing the single-player component, and that a multiplayer element has been considered since the VERY FIRST GAME, but was scrapped due to not meshing really well with the rest of the game. He talked this much, it means he meant it.

This wouldn't be the first time a magazine invented features for a game to paste on their cover in order to drive sales.

That said, it's hilarious that I was threatened with a ban for pointing out on multiple occasions that Bioware continually dodge this issue rather than declaratively and unambiguously state Mass Effect 3 will not have multiplayer, and multiplayer is not in development for Mass Effect 3. And now this.

Can't wait to download the scans!

Interesting...

Care to name a few examples to assuage the panicking masses? ;)

Hmm, well of course I can't think of any now that you've asked. But there was some really crappy (Xbox?) mag a couple months back which insisted James Vega was Nigel Fishn'chips, which Bioware had already said was not the case. Didn't stop them from taking it to print for their "exclusive info" though.

I think my biggest issue is that IF there is MP and it's not DLC, it will be taking up valuable disc space from the SP awesomeness.

Meh, as long as it doesn't affect the single player then I don't mind this feature being in ME3. I just hope we can play it without an gold membership.

Assassin's Creed did well with multiplayer. And besides, it's just optional content. It's not like it's mandatory.

If the MP would be made by another studio, like Arrival, that would be ok. Except there´s just one little problem: disc space.
For us Xbox players, there would be the problem with the discs, since ME2 already has 2 and ME3 is gonna have Kinect, higher resolution textures, larger scale enviroments and last but also the most terrifying: the gigantic-scale reapers... And then the possible multiplayer...
Likely that ME3 is gonna have at least 3 discs and the possible MP would take a fourth... And all this:

1) It will. They'll be sucking invaluable resources from the other departments and staff to work on it so this "feature" can be tacked on.

2) Um...since when has multiplayer been playable without a gold XBL membership?

Saying there's multiplayer is a far more bold claim than Vega being Nigel though and it looks like they're going in depth about it.

@ The Big Bad Wolf: It's optional content that is a waste of disc space for a game like ME3. ME2 just barely fit on 2 discs and people felt that too much was left out of that game. Now BioWare could be trying to cram MP in there, too? I'm scared......
