The keyword is royal. All I'm saying is that her family is part of the nobility of Canterlot, not direct bloodline connections.

I'd like to believe so, but I dunno. Some ponies in Canterlot don't seem to have the poshness that you'd think Canterlot nobility would have.

Twi's parents seem to be two of those ponies. Personally I believe you're right, but I'd hope the show would give TWI'S FAMILY AN EPISODE SO WE'D KNOW FOR SURE.

Confirmed- Twilight Sparkle is a descendent of Alfred Pennyworth.

We can tell that Rarity's and Pinkie's parents aren't exactly episode material, AJ's are basically dead, but maybe Twi's parents would have to compete with Flutters' and Dashie's, since we never saw them before.

Either the merch line goofed by including Twilight as "Royalty" (although this seems to be a very common misconception), or the Sparkles are a lot higher up in Canterlot society than we originally thought.

I like to think that that the Sparkles are descended from a match between Clover the Clever and Commander Hurricane (who I'm 80% certain was a stallion "in real life"). 

Wouldn't be too much of a stretch to suppose that Clover is related to Starswirl, even if she may not know it. 

EDIT: Also, luke, I'm willing to bet that room she was in in ACW was actually part of Cadence's residence, where or whatever that is. I think it pretty clearly takes place before she gets her cutie mark, and it looks nothing like her parent's house in CMC (which I just rewatched).

Perhaps Twilight brought some toys with her? Or she keeps them around for when she's babysitting Twilight? Heck, I know plenty of girls that hung on to a stuffed animal or two well into their teens. 

On another note, I've been watching more FiW than FiM lately. Season 3 can't get her soon enough.
