I asked about one character in particular, a show magician named Trixie who was a bit of a snob when she arrived in town, and if the main characters would be forgiving if an episode was made where she returned. "That’s a very good question," Amy said. "I think if Trixie came in wanting to make amends, then certainly. It would depend how she entered Ponyville. Is her motivation to make friends or to cause more trouble? The other characters would respond accordingly."

this was my assumption. and it works based on how the map looks

But it points to a place where the griffins are from, a landmass to the east. Dragons too in the southeast. (LP, you could make Aura to the west of Equestria, nothing is on that side of the sea) Equestria would simply be the name of the planet and the country, and maybe even continent. Considering the kingdom is mainly inhabited by ponies of all kinds (except maybe zebras) and is the location of the alicorns that keep the day and night in check it would only make sense that the most important country on the planet would have the same name.

Which technically would be West of Equestria anyway, hahaha.
