It will when Hasbro takes legal action against the developer.

There is no shame in making microtransactions on free to play games, that's how the developers make money. I've clocked in about 70 hours of gameplay on Blacklight, I'd feel like a dick if I didn't give them ANY money. It's microtransactions in $60 dollar games that I have a problem with, in a game that expensive, a few extra guns and costumes really aren't that much to ask.LPPrince wrote...

"Breaking rules" is rather subjective in the legal sense.

I'll give you that.
Which makes you wonder what kind of video game Hasbro would finance for Friendship is Magic IF they ever did(they won't).
Until then, fan made games will have to do. As if thats bad. Fighting is Magic is gonna be BADASS IN THE FACE.

I'm hopelessly hooked on Sim City Social and I haven't given EA any money for it

Probably something Viva-Pinata esque.
I must say, Hasbro has been rather closed minded about the profit oppurtunities surrounding FiM.

Well, Hasbro's been keeping an eye on Fighting is Magic. They haven't had a problem with it yet.
There was also a card game being made by bronies, also free, but that got a cease-and-desist from Hasbro because Hasbro has their own FiM cards that are sold.

Fans have made tons of FiM stuff. Attire, games, etc etc.
Hell yeah Hasbro could cash in if they wanted to.

They don't have to work hard or use much imagination to find one, or make one.

Blacklight doesn't require you to pay money for armor or weapons, all of those can be purchased with in-game currency. They just make you pay for things like camouflage and taunt animations. I ended up buying purple camo for my gun because this is how I picture myself while playing the game.
Respect.

They'd be stupid if they did. A lot of fighting game fans have discovered Fighting is Magic and through that, Friendship is Magic. Some have become bronies.
Free publicity is good publicity.

Hasbro might not share your perspective. They could view it as abuse of their IP among other things.

Doesn't matter. Fighting is Magic is one of the largest and easily targetable ones. All the development info is out there for you to see.
As opposed to say, some wacked pony porn site made by some perve in his basement. Targeting Fighting is Magic would yield more tangible and visible results than some off-color "fansite." It's all about results.

I'm sure some of them over there feel the same way, otherwise things like pony art being printed on shirts and sold for money by Redbubble and WeLoveFine wouldn't be happening.

Course, I know jack all about law. Anyone involved in law would know more than me and the usual fan so I'm sure there'd be some legal loophole to shut things down.
Um.. that was kinda sorta my point. Fighting is Magic IS using a loophole to keep things open, lol. And it ain't a hard one to close.

I hope that if Hasbro ever does develop an official MLP game they put some effort into it, rather than putting out the kind of shovelware that usually gets made out of licensed titles. As Nintendo has often proven, a family friendly game can still contain quality gameplay and deep storytelling. Whoever makes an official game for MLP should follow the shows lead, and avoid making the mistake of underestimating the intelligence of young children as I feel some developers do.
I think they would then overestimate the intelligence the adults.

Hence my reasoning that it'd actually be a detriment to Hasbro if they tried to shut it down.

From what I've heard, most unlicensed merchandise is technically illegal, but Hasbro has only been enforcing their copyrights selectively. For example, they ordered the creator of the infamous "Obscene Lyra Plushie" to cease and desist citing copyright violations, while widely turning a blind eye to sales of other copyright infringing plushies that are not as creepy or weird.
