Okay, maybe this will make more sense when the full episode is out, but from what I've seen in the 8 minute clip I'm really not understanding the premise of the opener.  Celestia told Twilight that after King Sombra took over the Crystal Empire, she and Luna overthrew him, turned him to shadow, and banished him to the ice of the arctic north.  Okay, I understand why they'd want to overthrow him and banish him to the arctic north, the guy seems like a dick, but why did they think it would be a good idea to turn him into shadow?  If that video of him chasing Shining Armor and the mane 6 is any indicator, it looks like that just made him even more dangerous.

But the fact that a group of teenage-to-adult males are spending a substantial amount of their time conversing on online message boards about a show primarily geared towards children and parents is perfectly normal?

It's the BSN. You sort of have to embrace the weird.

Regarding the relationship itself, it'll likely peak it's head out now and then, and amount to virtually nothing. It's similar to the Cutie Mark Crusader Stories - you may be rooting for them, but they're probably going to mess up regardless.

@bo: Could be the 'Rule of Cool", or something that will be explained further in the season. We'll likely find out in less than 48 hours.
