I like Sombra as a villain, he was a nice change from Nightmare Moon and Discord, both of which had more clear personalities and actually spoke more than a few lines.

Next big bad in the MLP verse needs to be a Broly equivalent.

Honestly, I don't think Spike saved the day so much as he helped.

Really I think credit goes to Cadence and the Crystal Ponies. Assist to Spike and Shining Armor.

Cadence holding her own the entire episode and inevitably saving the day with Crystal Ponies, Spike and Shining Armor assisting, Twilight Sparkle taking a backseat to them when it came to saving the day, and Celestia/Luna having some plan for Twilight in the future that involves her passing tests thoughout this season.

By the way, no lesson about friendship these episodes.
