Yeah, Sombra really fell flat imo. LPPrince and Lenimph have been telling me that Sombra being silent was a plus, but I know they're trolling me.Andarthiel_Demigod wrote...
I just watched the new episodes and frankly I didn't really get into it that much.It had some good moments such as Pinkie Spy, The Jousting and the Room of Worst Fears but as far as the epic two parters go the Discord one was so much better. I'm more looking forward to the next one, Too many Pinkies, sounds awesome.

By the way, no lesson about friendship these episodes.
Uh... there so totallly is?
What? I think Discord could beat him, but Nightmare Moon and Chrysalis? No way.Not gonna lie though, I believe Nightmare Moon, Discord, and Chrysalis would all beat the hell out of Sombra. He just seems beneath all of them in ability.
This.He was the best villain for keeping his mouth shut. His powers did the talking for him.
The wedding had a better built-up-to climax, but this one had less shortcomings (the only one I can think about is that Sombra's voice acting/choice of words reduced his imponence). So, for me I only prefer the wedding because of This Day Aria. Then again, it had BBBFF, which is a major turn off. Oh well, it's a tie.Not a bad episode, but the wedding was far better i think...
I think his major problem was exactly NOT being able to show no sense of personality.I just didn't feel like we got any sense of his personality, that's all.
Have you ever played KOTOR 2? Sombra could have gotten to Darth Nihilus levels. And Nihilus was the most dangerous thing in the galaxy...
Last season's change happened only in episode 3.Hmm, song is the same.
I think it had many great moments and no shortcomings (unlike A Canterlot Wedding). You just can't possibly compare any episode to Return of Harmony, it was nonstop spot-on storytelling from start to finish AND. It had Q. You can't beat Q. Part of the reason Next Generation's finale was so damn good was because Q was in it.I just watched the new episodes and frankly I didn't really get into it that much.It had some good moments such as Pinkie Spy, The Jousting and the Room of Worst Fears but as far as the epic two parters go the Discord one was so much better.
Honestly, I think the neighsayers are elevating their standards in an unrealistic way. You can't possibly expect every episode to be the best ever
Someone on EQD (or was it YouTube) mentioned how The Failure Song was the worst song Daniel Ingram ever wrote and that it was a catastrophy in songwriting. Obviously he didn't explain any of it...
If he had been dead silent (Aside from maybe those ominous horn sounds when chasing the mane 6) i think he would have come across as much more menacing.
All of my THIS. To both.I just think the idea of a Pony Slave Owner is WOW.

It was okay.
Question:
Did anyone notice some similarities between where the main six and Spike meet
Shining Armor in Northern Equestria and when Luke and Han Solo
are traveling across Hoth in 'Star Wars Episode V : The Empire Strikes Back'.
Besides both traveling in cold conditions.

So, with this largely baseless assumptions I say:
1.) The book is about Hatred and Fear.
2.) Celestia and Luna believe they must use it to accomplish some purpose.
3.) Celestia and Luna believe Twilight is the ideal candidate to use the book.
4.) Twilight will accept because she is all about "self sacrifice".
5.) Twilight will become corrupted by the book.
6.)The rest of the bunch will drag her out of it, maintaining their relevance.Twilight draws upon all of her lessons and her love for her friends and breaks free of it. Thus passing the ultimate test and becoming a goddamned alicorn

OR
Stuff that in my opinion are the only things I'd really change about this episode (I think you guys were too underwhelmed)
1) The Cadence-Twilight dance felt forced
2) The crystal pony Twilight "interviews" shouldn't have made that ::shudder:: just after saying "And I don't WANT to remember the time he ruled over us". It also felt forced.
3) Sombra shouldn't talk at all. Some of his ominous sounds could have packed more punch.
4) The horn sound effect played when Dash facehoofs is REALLY forced.
5) Literal cartoon hearts... why do they always use literal cartoon hearts.
That's pretty much it.

To their credit, there wasn't a pink floating heart parting in two like in A Canterlot Wedding... That was really bad...

If you have to put hearts, you either have to make it like that ^^^^^ or put it in small details (the train doors in this episode is a good example).
Also, I am pleased to report that the "magic things going on that solve everything climax music" of this episode had the same level of awesome A Canterlot Wedding had.

Rarity didn't seem to be REALLY concerned that Spike was, you know, FALLING TO HIS DEATH. A more appropriate reaction would consist of:
1)"SPIKE!", not spikey-wikey
2)No closing her eyes and facehoofing
3)Instead, open them more and run towards the edge of the castle. Hooves over the bars, preferrably.
inb4 Volus "Rarity sucks" post. Yes, I'm cheating, sue me.

Sometimes I wonder if Equestria has any sort of judicial system. If they do, Celestia does not seem to have much faith in it.
I have wondered about that myself. There was a blog post written on FIM by Municipal Engines which questions whether or not Equestria is an absolute monarchy which I am linking to below. The section which discusses this is below the heading "what Equestria is like".
