Macs are horribly overrated, horribly overpriced pieces of crap.
Twilight, howver, is perfect.

I'm probably the only one who actually admits it though. I'm betting some of them are closeted bronies.

We all felt that way at first. Then you get them to watch the show and a bunch of them decide to get weapons, vehicles, and start a motorcade.

Says someone that didn't scour the web and all big manufacturer's sites (Sony, HP, Lenovo, Asus, Samsung) looking for a notebook that matches some very important (and usually mutually exclusive) specifications.
I'm not even a fan of OS X (though it's a good OS): I'll just be using Windows 8 on it, so ideally I SHOULDN'T be getting a Mac.
- Decently powerful CPU
- GPU aprox. as good as a 650M
- 1080p minimum. IPS required
- Can't be over 3kg in weight
- Can't be a fugly cheap plastic (emphasis on cheap, quality plastic is okay)
- Can't be over 3cm thick
- Good battery
- No important flaws (bad trackpad, poor color performance for the price)
At first I was in love with the Vaio Z. It's CPU was good, screen performance was fantastic, super light and thin... but even with the (uber expensive) external dock, the GPU was puny
- Asus U500 - $2000
- Razer Blade II - $2500
- Apple Retina MacBook Pro (15") - $2200
The Asus has the ideal storage amount - a 128+500GB SSD/HD hybrid, but that's not such a big priority (I'll buy a Thunderbolt HD later), while the rMBP has a 256GB (user replaceable) SSD that's faster than the one on the Asus. The Blade gets the last position, with a 500GB 7200rpm HDD only.
The Retina and the Blade share the same CPU, while the Asus has a little lower performance. RAM is equal for all three.
The Retina has the best screen, but not because it's 2880x1800. At 15", anything higher than 1900x1200 is overkill for me, since I'll just have to tone the resolution down when I play games. It just has a nice panel to go along with it. The Asus is almost as good, while the Blade gets left behind: 1080p is good, but for a HUGE 17" notebook it's lacking.
Now is the surprise. The GPU. You'd expect the Blade to easily win this, right? It's a gamer notebook, and superficially it has the best numbers: GTX660M versus the 650M shared by the Asus and the Mac. When reading AnandTech's review, however, it turns out Apple overclocked their GPU to 900MHz, and that the GTX660M is actually the same chip as the 650M, clocked higher (875MHz). So we got a draw between the gamer notebook and the "useless toy"
As for the rest: the Mac is the lighter and thinner of the three (a full kilogram lighter than the Blade), has the biggest battery, the best trackpad and the lowest noise. It's price sits between the Asus, which is almost on-par for screen, build, and "little details", and the Blade, with equal performance but with pretty standard screen (that is too big), no SSD, heavier, poorer battery, and problematic Switchblade UI. So I'll get the Mac, see?
While the Retina MacBook Pro may not cater to your computing needs, it doesn't mean it won't cater to anyone's, and just because it's expensive, doesn't mean it's overpriced (or are you about to tell me Asus makes overpriced crap?). Different strokes for different folks. Something I expected a member of this fandom to know well.
PS: The 13" rMBP, on the other hand, is a total waste of money.
