There will be Timberwolves, and they'll be CGI, and their obvious-3D-versus-2D-environment and thick black lines won't fit well.

It's not uncommon to use CGI in 2D cartoons for some complex stuff: Avatar and Korra come to mind. However, while Avatar's 2005 implementation suffers from the same drawbacks tomorrow's episode does, Korra's (2012) was almost seamlessly blended with the 2D (for the most part...), so I'm a bit disappointed with the production.

Funnily enough I seem to be somewhat more forgiving of MLP than many people. You know, the ones that forget that in the end it's MY LITTLE PONY and criticize story elements as if it's some kind of LotR competitor...

... But yeah, I'm a very critical guy overall.

Usually the first comment I make when I leave a theater room after watching a movie is about how the sound absolutely SUCKS.

I don't know why, but the CG gave a very "last-gen Nintendo" look to me. The timberwolves wouldn't have looked out of place in Zelda: The Wind Waker or Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. (An RPG where literally everything including the characters is made out of paper and/or cardboard.) It's the cel-shaded ness I guess. Apparently though from what I hear the balls Applebloom juggled in Call of the Cutie in season 1 was CG too, so this isn't the first time.

On a indirectly related note, AJ had a badass moment there. She just killed all those timberwolves with naught but a branch and a few stones.

Oh yes, CGI apart, it was an awesome scene. I was actually kinda shocked the Timberwolves were "killed"

While it more than likely was CGI, I think Flash could do that. It would not be easy though.

 I kind of like it, in Courage the Cowardly Dog if they needed something to be scary or frightening, they made it in a different medium than the rest of the show, giving it an alien look, and the timberwolves do just that, they look alien alright. But the fact that they have not used it in the show until now is interesting.

Every artist tries different mediums to see how it works.

On the note they were killed, that may seem unlikely, as they are creatures made of sticks, it's quite possible they could pull an Iron Giant on us.

According to some folks, they have used 3D CGI before. One instance being Sombra's smoke head in The Crystal Empire, the snow and Cary Twilight lifted in Magic Duel and something in One Bad Apple. So it's not an entirely new thing.

Probably just left. I've seen him once or twice on my rare visits to FiMFiction though. You can probably track him down there, if you absolutely feel you must.




This one is espesicially funny considering a certain thing that was canonised last episode.
