Originally just a rumor. Now that Hasbro has trademarked "Equestrian Girls" and announced a new IP targeted "for teenage girls", people are starting to do the math. Not exactly "humans in equestria", though anything tying FiM with humans would be a massive shark jump.

Nah, that's just /mlp/ and Reddit being /mlp/ and Reddit.

Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if the new IP targeted at teenagers involves humans, but they pretty clearly wanted to make it a seperate IP within FiM. So I can't see it affecting the show all that much.

Most fanfiction is too small profile to be worth the effort.

But if more fan-made stuff is going to fall, I'd say EQD is next. 

EQD is just a clearinghouse of news and information. 

Fanfiction operates under a quite grey area of the law, but I believe non-profit works are generally held to be acceptable under fair use. On the other hand, GRRM has managed to keep quite tight-fisted control over A Song Of Ice And Fire and actively tries to take down fanfiction, so I suppose there probably are legal means to do so.

Of the two, the latter is by far in more danger. You'd have to come up with a damn good legal reason to shut down a blog beyond "we don't like what it says".

Uh, also, thought comes to me.

Perhaps this is simply a ploy for money on Hasbro's end. As I recall, one of the most prominent DA plushie makers was eventually pushed/forced/etc. into buying a license from them after they received a C&D. Perhaps Hasbro is angling for the same thing here.

So what you're saying is Hasbro should shut down EQD.

No no no what im saying is tgat they cant touch them for all intents and purposes eqd is protected by the full fforce of the first.ammendment. Any attempt to completely shut the side down as copyright or trademark infringement would be meet by lawyers from the aclu and probably many other places where people may have raised concern. Its fully protected as a form of the.press here. 

If hasbro tried there would be clear and probable legal action agaimst the company.

And i would dissagree volus. The First Ammendment Often Wins it's fights. But let  us deviate away from politics.

They could essentially reskin what they have. No easy task but it is their best shot (other than scrapping the project)

No, not that one. I think it might've been the person who made the Rainbow Dash gala plushie that went for $2000 or thereabouts, but don't quote me on it.

EDIT, going by SRK, a seemingly large amount of the fighting game community seem to be revelling in the games takedown, effectively saying they didn't want that filth anywhere near their community anyway.

I don't see why the songs would need to be taken down. They're just like all the other original music based on the show that already exist on youtube and other sites.
