I don't recall people ever saying "Well Return of Harmony is just a rumor" or "Cadence and Shining are just a rumor".

I recall quite a bit of freaking out over the latter, but this fandom is chronically incapable of keeping its jimmies unrustled, so that's no surprise. Moreover, we had actual -hard sources- for the inclusion of the latter, not a single effing still shot from a troll tumblr that is -still- the only thing anybody can point to as "proof".

I'm glad I stuck to EQD and here only in those early days, then. 

Although this sort of lends to he point that a fandom born entirely from the internet is particularly vulnerable to rustled jimmies, inane rumors and hoaxes being wholeheartedly bought into, and generally engaging in what TV Tropes refers to as "Fan Dumb".

Nah, but there's plenty on DefenseTech.

I also ran into another brony on the Cowboys blog I visit once. I saw one guy just casually say that DeSean Jackson was at least 20% slower than Rainbow Dash, so I posted that the Eagles were playing like [picture of Derpy]. 

It was like a secret handshake or something.

I wouldnt' be surprised, there's a whole ton of columnists there who write reviews of western movies and television in which they analyze them for pro-imperialism propoganda.  Maybe they'll write something like that blog Blueshift write about flat-toned pony's burden in the crystal empire, only not as funny.
