Five at last count, but according to the old female fans I've talked to G2 never had a show ("My Little Pony Tales" - the weird ass anthro intro - was apparently still considered G1). 

G1 was the 80's with the flying beastmen and Smooze and $5 animation budget (and they spent $4 of it on pizza) with some stuff that looks like rejected scripts for Heavy Metal. Then G2 in the 90's, then G3 and 3.5 from the 2000's which is what most people think of and I'm not entirely clear on the distinction between them, and now G4.

Funnily enough, G4 has gona over a lot better than DnD 4e.

Nah, Dungeons and Dragons 4e is terrible compared to 3.5e and especially Pathfinder, which is often referred to as "3.75e". 

EDIT: Also, a quick wikipedia check reveals that I made some mistakes in that above post and edited it accordingly.

My entire working knowledge comes from that one video Luke posted plus some random internet conversations. Give me a break.

Perhaps that's why Flutters doesn't do much singing - Andrea starts slipping into her Pinkie voice when doing so.

Children, let's have a quick lesson on detecting internet bull****.

If a person ever claims to be being fed information from a source close to thing at hand, and if they say they can't reveal how they got their information in order to protect this source, and if they cheerfully say it's okay and understandable to not believe them right now and they'll be proven correct in the future, while acknowleding that their sole bit of evidence offered up cannot be found elsewhere on the internet?

They're either a spy or a troll. And spies don't have tumblrs.

I'm not even going to begin to go into the other circumstances that ought to be setting the detectors off.
