A bit Pone-Curious, are we? My first impressions of the brony community before watching an episode was "I'm seen an awful lot of the meme images floating around, and it seems to be in half the BSN's avatars now...alrighty then." Even if you don't care for the show, the sheer volume and quality of art is a good motive to come back, and likely is what spurned the view count beyond a million.

If you have questions, feel free to ask...besides who is best pony. As it goes without saying, the best pony is Mrs. Ed.

Popular, mostly. The first major villain in MLP:FiM, and still holds a role of various significance in the show. Shadow/Evil Queens will always have an allure in fictional works, and that's essentially who she is.

I read the comic strips that are posted, there usually not bad.

 If you don't feel like watching through the two-part season 1 opening to get to the episodes where things start picking up, a good "taster" would be the episode Lesson Zero. (You can find pretty much all episodes on YouTube) if you feel like you want to get into the show from there, just start from the beginning and work your way up to the season 3 finale.


Anyways, why don't you all listen to an original rock song? Wonderbolt.

Most of the episodes don't require major narrative context from previous ones, so I'd suggest heading right to the good stuff. My personal reccomendations(besides the above) are...

Party of One. The Canterlot Wedding. Sonic Rainboom.
The Return of Harmony. The Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000.

Anyway The Wonderbolts are a squad of Pegasus ponies who perform aerial acrobatics and demonstrations. They also seem to act as the Equestria version of an air force when a town is in danger.

No. Lesson Zero is a great episode, but it's also a Bizarro Episode. TvTrope it.

Also, not everyone that likes MLP has the same musical tastes as the majority of the fanbase. I only like a handful of fanmade songs (and most of them are the Fighting is Magic soundtrack), for example. Pushing something that's unnecessary (and in many cases doesn't even remind of the style of the series) to enjoy something else may rub a person the wrong way.

My opinion? Canon first, explore fanon only after you form an opinion of the canon.

I got my friends into the show by starting them with Lesson Zero. After that I took them all the way back to the start of Season 1 and we watched every single episode together all the way to the end of Season 2. Season 3 we watched a few but not all, at least not all at the same time over Xbox Live's Youtube app.
