Though to be honest, absolutely no one got comped, no one got paid(except the hotel since they decided to charge people who should've been comped, the hotel handled everything extremely poorly), and absolutely everyone except the two people behind it got screwed.

Yeah, its not really a Ponzi Scheme. The hotel made bank, but thats cause they're incompetent at checking things and decided making money was more important than working to help solve things.

"We are owed $18,000" is something a hotel rep said apparently in a room that Final Draft was in at LPU during the mess. And Sandy(one of the two people behind LPU) wanted the money from the donations to go towards paying the hotel.

Yeeeeeah F THAT. How about the VA's and show staff that didn't get paid and lost money they could've made from working instead of attending? Why did the hotel tell people they were definitely comped when they knew they weren't since there was no credit card or similar thing associated to comping everyone?

Garbage.

Screw The Riviera Hotel.

Until the bronies who work inside anonymous's circles decide to go after these two.

Which is vengence is any indication, might very well happen.

Ponzi Scheme, Ponzi Scheme

or at least thats what Final Draft from EverfreeRadio is comparing it to

Technically incorrect. If it were a Ponzi scheme, he would call it an investment and using new investor's $$ to pay the older investor's interest/dividends/whatever he wants to call it over a time period.

This is just a simple cash grab.

Yeah, I was about to say. This - since it's looking more and more like criminal activity - is just a money grab scam (or con, if you like the irony).

I feel like ever since Bernie Madoff it's become popular to use "Ponzi scheme" as shorthand for any con that involves stealing money, especially on the internet by people who don't know what a Ponzi scheme actually is. That's just nitpicking though.

Fraud, False Advertising, Obstruction of Living Quality(due to leaving people stranded by surprise)

Could be some lawsuits in the future

Also, the funds that came from the celebrity dinner was supposed to go to Kiki's Fund, and no one knows where those funds went

And THAT, THAT is BUCKED

If they can find these people.

Not sure I'd count on that, although if they're scammers they're pretty bad at covering their tracks, if they're using the same/real names over and over.

Apparently this Sandy and Eddie/Eddy or whatever are in fact real people that were there. Final Draft spoke to them repeatedly.

So yeah. I don't think they can hide.

Although the hotel could get in big trouble for negligence and breach of contract, it looks like.

Seriously? They even scammed the money from the show and VA staff dinner that was supposed to go to Tara Strong's charity medical fund for Kiki?!

If it was a scam, then yeah, they did.

Instead of it being called a scam, it seems some are just trying to call it a colossal mistake from people who didn't know how to properly operate a convention.

^ Volus Warlord..lol

This whole event should have required some sort of surety bond or insurance, the fact that the Rivera had nothing of the sort with Las Pegasus screams negligence and fraud. Company’s I do work for, anything over thirty grand there is a surety bond between us the client and usually a bank or a bonding company. This is done to protect ourselves and the client in the event the bank or funding falls through. I can’t do a damn thing until we get the okay from the bank. The only time they don’t do this is when the transactions are cash for fixed asset exchanges (you can liquidate the asset to cover losses). If you’re booking $18,000 dollars in hotel rooms and renting your hall out to venders I think it’s safe to say your well above $30,000 and there is no fixed asset to liquidate…

They booked a bunch of rooms without any sort of payment. Thats just odd.

AND they charged people's incidental cards.

She was also the orange blur we saw in that small screencap that accompanied the Hasbro slides. Probably she's either going to be introduced at the season premiere 2 parter or in the movie.
Reminding everyone that the screencap in question had Twilight, Sunset, Celestia and Cadence (where is Luna??) in the crystal caves of Canterlot.
Sunset Shimmer. Who is so obviously not Twilight's replacement. I mean, Twilight, Sunset, Sparkle, Shimmer. What does that even have to do with anything right?

I don't think that's a seventh cast member tbh, she's part of the playful pony set toyline, which includes the mane six minus twilight. I'm thinking that the toymakers were unintentionally kept out of the loop in the production process and didn't find out about Twilight's transformation until it was already too late to change the molds and had to do a last minute color swap.
